Quite true, and 40 times reflect in large part how effectively you can accelerate. It’s all about how fast you are, and raw speed is a very important thing in the NFL.Acceleration is way more important than long speed at any position
Cone drills just tell you a guy knows how to run a stupid, fixed drill. Sure, they could be a red flag if a guy completely blows them.
When I see awesome college production, the single stat outside of height and weight that best indicates a guy can project that production to the NFL is his 40 time. It’s an absolute number that can’t be faked.
AnRB that runs a true 4.6 is not going to be explosive, maybe not even good enough in short yardage.
