Acceleration is way more important than long speed at any position
Quite true, and 40 times reflect in large part how effectively you can accelerate. It’s all about how fast you are, and raw speed is a very important thing in the NFL.

Cone drills just tell you a guy knows how to run a stupid, fixed drill. Sure, they could be a red flag if a guy completely blows them.

When I see awesome college production, the single stat outside of height and weight that best indicates a guy can project that production to the NFL is his 40 time. It’s an absolute number that can’t be faked.

AnRB that runs a true 4.6 is not going to be explosive, maybe not even good enough in short yardage.

12. Dallas Cowboys
Omarion Hampton, RB, North Carolina

The Cowboys are probably kicking themselves for not making a run at Saquon Barkley or Derrick Henry last year. Hampton might not be as strong as Jeanty, but he makes up for that with his skills as a pass catcher. Hampton also has enough speed to get around the corners for explosive plays. A pass-heavy approach between Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb hasn’t gotten the Cowboys far the past few seasons. New coach Brian Schottenheimer welcomes Hampton with open arms.

I don't think edge rusher is even on our priority list. We have Micah and Jerry will expect Sam Williams to be all-pro. Plus Fowler for spot rushing.

I think it is between the interest in Stewart and Williams potentially.

Mykel Williams didn't make a visit did he? And we didn't look at many pass rushers outside of one that I can think of. And Shemar Stewart may have been brought in just to see about his character.

Makes me wonder if we are actually interested in Mykel Williams. Average athlete, bad production and just over hyped. I think the media may be higher on him than teams actually are.

If I'm reading tea leaves RB, WR and DT are our top priorities. Which matches what most fans would say.

Which means we will be drafting the safety from Georgia.

Williams hasn't as of yet, but to me him and Stewart are basically the same prospect so I lump them together.

They are similar. I think Stewart has a higher cieling as a pass rusher. Honestly I hope they aren't actually thinking about Stewart at 12. If they were serious about pass rushers I'd hope they would be looking at a guy like Green as well. But it's weird the only DE reported we brought in so far is Stewart. But obviously there are more names than the ones reported so far.
