Who was the OL coach when we had a failed zone blocking scheme and immediately improved the next year with a new coach? It was somewhere between 2008-2015
Paul Alexander?

I don't know what year it was but I feel it was like 2017.

At any rate, Solari is a real shit bird and my hope is that the next OL coach is someone younger, potentially someone who has some experience with the Shannahan/McVay tree.

Could be. Maybe my timeline is way off, but 2017 seems too recent.

I wish those were the worst possible choices.
What could be worse?

Witten? Deion?

I don't think either of those have any realistic chance of happening, whereas I could easily see a scenario where Philly makes the NFCC off the back of an MVP-caliber season from Barkley and a so-so offense otherwise, and Jerry/Stephen go with a familiar/comfortable option.

I still think there's a very good chance that it's Belichick, but if they're hellbent on keeping Zimmer and going with a familiar face, Aaron Glenn would be a significantly better option than Moore and it would actually make some sense to keep Zimmer as DC given that they spent a few years together as player/coach.

I know it will eventually go back to the same after a few years but I don't want anybody that has been or is affiliated with the present or past cowboys.

I agree as far as coaches go, but there could be some former players who'd make decent HC's. Jerry just isn't the guy to sort that out.

Still holding out hope that one day Troy will get the GM offer.

Glenn was a Parcells guy and only here for two years towards the backend of his career 20 years ago, I wouldn't be worried about hiring someone like that just like I wanted us to hire Campbell after letting Garrett go. He was part of the organization 20 years ago for a few years but had been around the NFL and worked under some really good coaches in the meantime.

Glenn is the same deal.

The issue with Moore is that he's barely been exposed to anything other than Dallas and I could see him being another Jerry golden child who gets 3 years more than he should because of it.

Yes.

With these idiots running the team and how much Jerry likes the spotlight (Deion) and being comfortable (Witten)... maybe it isn't likely but it's certainly realistic.

And there could be other possibilities that are just as bad that we haven't even thought of.

We spent 10 years in hell having to deal with Garrett. There are certainly all kinds of doomsday scenarios that are realistic.

I was worried about Deion for a bit but I think Jerry's comments last week were pretty stark and telling, I don't think he intends to bring in a college coach like Deion with such little experience, especially now that it seems they won't be in the playoff. The biggest concern for me was them winning the Big 12 at ATT and then making a little run in the playoff, now that all of that is out I don't think there's much of a chance.

And as far as Witten goes, maybe I'm being obtuse, but I just can't imagine them hiring a guy with like 3 years of HS experience and literally nothing else.

Now, I could see them hiring someone like Moore who coached Witten as a way to get Witten in the door as TE coach or whatever, but I think hiring Witten as HC right now is just too ridiculous even for them.

The only way I'll accept Moore as HC would be if they somehow pried Stoutland away as "OC" with a huge raise.

I'm bracing for the worst.
