He plays dirty. I like that part of his game. But he is not a FT type.
Can't have steak on every plate, gotta have a few ham & eggers, too.

I have never seen these Chargers uniforms.

Are they new?

Harrison looked Jaylon Smith stoopid trying to run stop on that play.

Just watched the all-22 of the OL to see Bass and the thing that really jumps out is how poorly coached/designed our blocking is. The reason I put it mostly on coaching/design is because the TE's struggle in the exact same manner, Schoonmaker singlehandedly fucked up like 3 short yardage plays because of his spacing/timing/angles.

Everybody talks about "run fits" on the defensive side, but it applies to the offense as well. Run blocking and the design of the run game is probably one of the most subtle aspects of the sport because so much of it comes down to a slight step in a certain direction based on the momentum of your opponent, holding your spot for an extra half second, a slight lean on a combo for an extra split second, the alignments/spacing on the splits, etc.

I say all of this because basically none of that is there with our offense. I think the fact that Pollard is about to have a better statistical season playing for the shithole Titans with Will Levis at QB and no WR's, compared to our 13-4 team last year with Dak finishing 2nd in MVP voting and Lamb leading the league in various receiving categories tells the story.

At any rate, Bass looked good and is probably one of the main guys I'll be watching the rest of the year to see if he should be penciled in as a starter next year. Hoffman is a really valuable backup but I wouldn't bank on him as a starter. Steele is somehow our worst and most highest paid OL (or about tied with Martin), which is really impressive. Beebe is a future stud and I'm still bullish on Guyton because he's basically just sloppy, which I'm guessing has to do with our useless OL coach.

The run blocking was very solid yesterday though, I'm guessing Jeanty would've put up about 125.

Random question that I don't know if I'll ever find the answer for...

It's a question of defenses stopping offenses or offenses stopping themselves, but I'd like to see the history of 4th downs forced with vs without an offensive penalty on the preceding downs. I'm guessing it's increased significantly for w/penalty over the last 10 years.

Begs the bigger question, what year did football really veer away from the football we grew up with into this ratings-favored version. Maybe ~2015 when the bellcow RB started dying out?

You mean all the passing and pinball stats?

I think it started around that game where the Pats DBs mauled the Colts' WRs all day, Manning whined a ton about it, and the next year it was an "emphasis" in rules enforcement. No actual rule change but they started calling it a lot different.

To me, it's crazy watching even games from the Parcells and Wade days. The game might not have looked just like the Jimmy days but it was a lot more physical and LOS-oriented even then compared to today.

Who was the OL coach when we had a failed zone blocking scheme and immediately improved the next year with a new coach? It was somewhere between 2008-2015

Not just passing pinball stats, also the litigious penalty-happy era. Penalties for QB roughing, roughing in general, pass interference, what's a catch, etc
