If he plays like that against San Fran we win and may have been in the Superbowl.
Dak's clutch drive came after the Garrett Wilson TD. 10-7 and last drive was 3 n out. Running game sputtering. Cant afford another 3 n out to surging Jets. Certainly the TD was helped out by the Roughing QB penalties, but Dak had already driven them into the scoring position and disrupted Jets momentum before that.

7 straight pass plays

1st 10 (25 yard line) - Dak pass for 1 yard
2nd 9 (26) - Dak pass for 20
1st 10 (46) - Dak pass for 7
2nd 3 (NY 47) - Dak incomplete
3rd 3 (NY 47) - Dak 9
1st 10 (NY 38) - Dak incomplete
2nd 10 (NY 38) - Dak for 11
1st 10 (NY 27) - Deuce run for 13

Piece of cake just like I said.

A Nathaniel Hackett/Zach Wilson offense was never going to beat our defense for 60 minutes.

I didn't mind the somewhat conservative approach McCarthy took when they were in the red zone and holding a 24-10 lead. I'm willing to bet that his mindset was to just burn clock and walk away with at least 3 points

It's pretty clear he's not worried about putting up flashy fantasy football stats. Playing smart, complimentary football is the top priority. And damnit, it's refreshing to see this approach finally make it's way back to Dallas.

Yep that drive was key. You don't score there and you breath life into the Jets. Definite turning point.

It’s very hard not to homer out right now. I know it’s just 2 games but this defense is just amazing to watch! Plus Dak really does look improved with McCarthy in his ear.

if I were to nitpick anything, I would just like to see Dak run it on some of those handoffs to Pollard. When he hands it off and fakes a run, he just looks so open! Of course I am likely underestimating defenses and thinking they can be fooled by a fake handoff and a run by Dak.

I would also like some better play calling at the goal line. That cutesy shit really pissed me off probably more than it should have.

a goal line back would be awfully nice as well.

The Jets stop the run and defend the big plays. So yeah, we went after their weakness with success. Again, this is what we need against the 49ers.

We've seen big leads blown many times by the previous HC and OCs that having a coach actually protect the lead and trusting the defense is a breath of fresh air

Make sure I understand this correctly;

Dallas Cowboys 2-0

Kellen Moore 0-2

Interesting….

This drive and the opening drive to the game showed me all I need to see to know that we can turn it up a notch if need be. Both drives were called and executed great, with the game in the balance. The opening drive is obvious, as we didn't know what to expect yet. And the drive above, Phil explained already. I have zero problem with going conservative for the majority of the game, mainly because for the majority of the game, we were in control.

It amazes me how many people are whining about poor play calling and "settling for FGs" by being too conservative. After watching this offense for YEARS under Garrett and Moore put up gaudy numbers, but never showing the ability to be smart about situational football. And no doubt, complaining about it then.

But think about this... Even with being mostly conservative, we had put up 24 pts against one of the league's best defenses midway thru the 3rd quarter. And put up 30 total with an offense that was pretty much idling to kill time and run it out from that point on. 30 pts is pretty damn good for an offense that is running wide open all game. Especially considering the caliber defense we were playing.

That's kinda the point; the caliber of defense of NY's plus the fact that Zach Wilson sucks is why you don't get cute with a big lead.
They weren't likely to come back unless you start turning the ball over on offense, giving that putrid NY offense some life.

Yep. Shouldn't be hard to understand.

That IS giving the Jets defense credit. You have to be careful against them because they can take it away.

What do you want?
That's another way of saying you don't trust your $40M quarterback. When the game was still in doubt and we were trying to score touchdowns, we couldn't. The game was still up for grabs when he almost threw the pick six, missed Fergy for an easy TD, and did nothing with the possession after the Parsons fumble recovery. That's why I said we were lucky that we didn't need him to make more plays, because he seemed incapable of doing do.
