I also think some of what McCarthy said was pretext. He wanted to get rid of Moore either way but he needed something to say publicly without trying to trash the guy.

Also, it wasn't running the ball all the time, it was the situational awareness to get the clock running when we have a lead, not keep the foot on the gas. See the Green Bay game last year.

Besides Pollard, the OL has been a problem. Martin and Steele were beastly run blockers last year, and this year both have fallen off a lot. Plus, Tyler+Mongo > Edoga+Tyler.

I think we planned on being more run focused but they realized midstream that Pollard isn't as good as they thought he was.

And we planned on Ronald Jones making the final roster.

In addition, significant are the failed 3rd and shorts and goal to go.

Imagine the Eagles w/o tush push. Significantly worse.

And we probably lose one TD-to-FG per game.

A mid career form Zeke type RB on this team probably gets us HFA and another couple wins with everything else as is this season. The goal line and RZ deficiencies along with the ability to rest the defense is very undervalued or underrated by both the coaching staff and the FO. Still hard to believe Fat Mike would look at the offense and be “yeah, we got it” after seeing how his GB teams were constructed. Even with arguably the best QB on his teams, he still had a solid run game.
