Is this a joke or some sort?

Anthony Johnson in the first?

Now I see where PFF gets it's arrogant cute shit from like ranking Diggs as like the 80th beat CB in the league after he put up 11 INT's.
They sure do love to be different. I'll take this mock as, it's not what we think will happen but is just our personal opinions on the players in this draft. You like who you like. But no one is taking Wypler or Anthony Johnson in the first round.

Wypler and Johnson have been underrated most of the draft season, so they are technically "rising". That is the only reason I can see them even appearing on a mock, but they are not first rounders.

I'm sure they got the Chiefs drafting Hooker right, though. :jerk

Another Meyer projection.
Meyer simultaneously feels like a lazy pick and spot on for this team. This is the first time in a long time that I felt like we didn’t know for sure who the first 2-3 picks in the draft would be for the Cowboys. Meyer has been mocked to them extensively.

this mock also has Avila and Torrence both going before 26. Doesn’t seem right somehow.

NY talk radio wants the Jets to take Mayer really bad, but 15 sounds rich to me.

Bob McGinn's Top 100
Our draft expert has taken first The Huddle Report's Top 100 board contest five times. Here's how he sees the 2023 draft going down.
BOB MCGINN
APR 26

GUEST POST

Here is my first and only listing of how I’m projecting the first 100 players to be selected Thursday and Friday in the NFL draft.

Players are listed from best to worst within each position group.

This also will serve as my entry into The Huddle Report’s Top 100 board contest. According to THR, these scores have become the standard by which draft publications, sites and media personnel are measured.

Since first entering in 2009 my board has finished first five times (2011, 2012, 2013, 2019, 2022) and tied for second twice (2010, 2020). In terms of five-year averages (2018-’22), mine is tied for first place with NFL Draft Rough at 86.0.

This is the second time I’ve represented Tyler Dunne’s GoLongTD.com in the contest. There were 69 invited entrants in 2022.

Also: Catch up on McGinn’s series right here. Specialists are live tomorrow.

Upgrade to paid

Part 8, DB: These corners possess (historic) speed to burn
Part 7, LB: Iowa’s Jack Campbell is the standard
Part 6, Edge: Why the Clemson Curse 'scares the shit' out of the NFL
Part 5, DL: Does Jalen Carter love football?
Part 4, RB: 'There’s nothing he can’t do'
Part 3, QB: Bryce Young has the 'S2' advantage
Part 2, OL: Buyer Beware
Part 1, WR/TE: Hallelujah, it's the Year of the Tight End

Mayer would be a very lazy pick given the depth of the draft at TE.

Perfect opportunity to be boring, take BPA and move on-- barring a trade down of course

Isn't that what everybody wants? BPA?

I'm fine with a TE if it lines up with their board. They actually deserve the benefit of the doubt when it comes to at least the first round. They have been very good for awhile.

Yeah I'm not in the boat of wanting Mayer but I wouldn't call it lazy. If I called it anything I'd call it safe. Lazy would be just taking the highest ranked TE available. I don't think that's what they would do at all.

Also everyone says they want BPA but I think there is more nuance to it. You have to consider position and position depth in a draft to some extent otherwise we could literally take 4 TEs in this draft with the depth there.

They also did really well with Ferguson and Hendershot last year so if they think Mayer is worth that pick, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they know what they're looking for at that position.

I definitely agree that we have a TE coach who can develop these guys. Wish I could say I had the same faith at other positions.

Like I have said many times, the draft is a balance of BPA and need. You can't go extreme on either.

TE is not an extreme either way. It is a need and very well could be BPA at our pick.

Exactly, if you view TE as a need and one you covet falls to you, you take him. Even if it might not be the clear cut BPA at your pick.

Yeah I think it just all comes down to how do you evaluate a TE when compared to other positions. The 10th best TE in the NFL just isn't nearly as valuable as say the 10th best OT or WR or DE. So when you evaluate TE, I think it just comes down to, how to you compare a less important position with a more important position.
