As far as Edwards and Davis go, I guess it is easy to see that since their contracts are up, Jones was not going to move on with them.

I don't have an issue with that. The real thing here is whether or not they added value, or if they impacted things negatively. I think they were great to have around for culture, but is there any example of how they impacted the game on the field?

Given their history with McCarthy it is pretty clear to see this was low level nepotism and Jones played along.

Perhaps there was some thought to this.

I am to lazy to look, but how many top shelf head coaches have to have two staff members with "assistant head coach" titles?

Maybe times are tight with the Joneses and lopping off a couple of Fat Mike's butt buddies is a logical cost-cutting move.

The thing that bothers me is this seems to have been done without Quinn's input or even knowledge. You'd think he'd at least have some input into his assistants. Unless I'm reading this wrong.

I have zero faith in our current quarterback so that basically makes it to where I don't care who the OC is so long as it isn't Kellen Moore.

I just want that stupid fucking offense gone already.

I'm still mad at Dak for costing us a ticket to the NFCC.

Was Edwards really "his" assistant?

Quinn was the winner here if you go by the headcount of those lost versus gained.

And really, since head coaches don't get choices on coordinators in Dallas, why would you think coordinators get choices on positional coaches?

It's possible that Quinn wanted him gone and is just doing damage control through the media. Think about it, the news came out that Edwards wasn't coming back yesterday, this afternoon rumors come out that Ryans is the Broncos frontrunner, a few hours later Quinn announces publicly he's returning, pretty much at the same time McCarthy is doing a PC.

The timing seems very convenient and it's possible if not likely that the team knew yesterday that Quinn was coming back and the Edwards decision (and the other defensive assistants for that matter) was made with his input.

I'm pretty sure if Quinn had said, I want Edwards back they would have reversed their decision. I think Jerry has that much love and respect for Quinn.

Ultimately though this comes down to Jerry being cheap. He doesn't want to pay extra coaches. I'm guessing most of these guys won't be replaced who weren't specifically coaching a position like Edwards and Robb Davis.

They will have to obviously replace specific position guys like Philbin and Pete. But you can see what he is doing. He is going to basically get rid of the number of coaches and pay less money. I just pray the replacements aren't other assistants already on the roster. For a guy who claims to do anything to win, Stephen and Jerry have become absolute cheap asses.

Moores schemes were good enough to allow the back up Quarterback to not lose a game at the start of the season. I don’t get the rage to get rid of Moore. His record with Dallas is a pretty good win percentage. My take is that player execution is more of a problem on the offense. Even so I credit Moore for getting Pollard involved in the game. Most of the rushing yardage was garnered by him. I wonder what Dallas won/loss record would have been if Pollard warmed the bench this season. I think he has knowledge to expand the schemes but even so Dallas went further in their season this time than before and it seems obvious to me they could have gone further but for some poor player execution at critical times.

There is never going to be a #1 draft pick ala Troy Aikman in Dallas again.

We have got to win these QBs who we've lucked in to.

I wondered that too. I don't think he had any previous connection to Edwards, did he? There was more of a connection to here earlier in his career, the Zimmer connection, and Mike going against him in division.

To add on to this...it felt like the Cowboys game plan was overly cautious vs the 49ers whereas vs the Bucs they approached that game with more of a YOLO attitude.

Dak throws so much better on the run. And Moore all but eliminated those designed bootlegs from the gameplan.

Yeah, I lost count of how many play action or bootlegs we attempted to run down the stretch where the defense was in Dak's face almost immediately.

There were some attempts, it's just that the defenses we faced knew how to defend them most of the time.

Once Pollard went out it was pretty evident that there was no respect for our run game. Our offense just looked different once Pollard went out.

The team came pretty close this season to contend for the SB. With a few changes to the offensive lineup it’s possible they could have gone further but we will never know because the current QB isn’t consistent and you never know which one will show up on game day . San Fran is on target with a rookie QB but he is consistent. It hard to say he will remain that way but the Dallas QB has established himself a while ago that he is streaky and you never know which one will show up. Thats why it may be difficult to revamp the schemes or it may not be but what is predictable is that you don’t know what game Prescott will bring.
