Don't know if this made the game day chatter thread, but I submit the following as supporting evidence.

The poor guy is just a lost cause.

For once, the guy actually reads the play correctly and goes to cover the right guy. And yet for some unknown reason, he hesitates despite not having another potential receiver in his vicinity nor a QB looking to scramble.

That inexplicable hesitation is what allows the running back to make the catch, turn up field, and shake him out of his jock.

I just don't think there's anything a coach can do about that.

I can't believe there are Packers fans out there actually clamoring for this.

Looking at that first play again, it is a microcosm of everything that is wrong with him all in one play.

First, it's his inability to read what's going on in front of him. If you watch that 1st play again, you'll notice that he is literally the very last person to take a step and move.

Everybody else on each side of the ball has reacted before he makes his first move.

Next, his dislike for contact. He actually fills in the correct gap but gets pushed out 10 yards wide because instead of crashing into the lineman like he's supposed to, he avoids the contact and ends out beyond the hash marks.

And lastly, his lack of quickness. As usual, he's hustling after the play is over in an effort to make it look like hes doing something but you can see he's working so hard to get back to the pile but looks so sluggish doing it.

Jaylon Smith is absolutely finished as a football player.

That's the thing I noticed as well. He filled the right gap but he's so damn soft and refuses to aggressively attack the OL/gap.

Dude is built like Superman but plays like Lois Lane.

Yeah, he's supposed to put his head down and crash into the lineman, but instead he withstands the contact himself because the guy doesn't care for violent contact with big guys like that.

That's why he ends up so far out of position. It's not even so much that he gets driven out there, it's more he's on the defensive and allows himself to get escorted out of position.

To me, it looks like his knee is shot and he's trying to compensate for it. He can't take on a blocker without being driven back. He avoids contact because he knows he'll lose the match up.
