I think I am. I think the chances of converting a 4th and 15 are a lot higher than recovering an onside kick, especially with penalties involved.Surprisingly enough, even as a traditionalist, I don't think I would be opposed to this.

Which I don't have a problem with. I'd rather a team win because they dominated the majority of playing time, not because they 'stole one' at the end.Onside kicks have become impossible with the other rules changes.
That's why I said I thought I would be okay with it. How many onside kicks were actually recovers last year. Has to be less than 1%. So, either do something different or eliminate the play altogether.Onside kicks have become impossible with the other rules changes.
I liked the way they were before in all honesty. That's why I said I thought I would be okay with it. How many onside kicks were actually recovers last year. Has to be less than 1%. So, either do something different or eliminate the play altogether.
I agree completley. It's why I like the way it was before best. Better percentages than now but still not high percentages before.Onside kicks were never high percentage plays.
It just feels like 4th and 15 is way higher of a percentage play than an onside kick was ever intended to be.
I would agree to this if no penalty could give an automatic 1st down on this playOnside kicks were never high percentage plays.

Nice to see them fix that one-day cuts bullshit.
I can already see a coach like Belichick ordering his defense to just tackle everyone on offense at the snap.I would agree to this if no penalty could give an automatic 1st down on this play
Can't end on a defensive penalty, though. So I'd imagine if no first down was granted, they would still get the penalty yardage and another snap. So instead of it being 4th and 15, it would now be 4th and 10 or 4th and 5 depending on the penalty called. And then it would be a lot easier to pick up. So I don't think your scenario would play out.I can already see a coach like Belichick ordering his defense to just tackle everyone on offense at the snap.
Yeah that's true. I just don't like it at all. To easy for cheap penalties from refs I don't trust. Can't end on a defensive penalty, though. Exactly. Better to have real football decide something like this than a strange kickoff which never succeeds at anything but getting people hurt.Surprisingly enough, even as a traditionalist, I don't think I would be opposed to this.
Do they get the option to kick off again, or does the other team get the ball at the spot of the onside attempt after penalty is walked off?Instruct the WR to be more aggressive with push off and secure the 1st down.
If you’re called for offensive PI, then just do regular kickoff.
I’m guessing it’d be similar to a 2pt conversion. If called for offensive penalty on the play, they take the yardage and can kick the XP further back or retry the conversion further back.Do they get the option to kick off again, or does the other team get the ball at the spot of the onside attempt after penalty is walked off?
