So if it is Whitt I don't agree with some that it will just be the same as DQ since Whitt coached under him for a bit. He's coached with a bunch of different defensive coordinators, Dom Capers to name one and I'm sure Whitt has his own ideas of how to run a defense.
Yeah I agree with this. I think Whitt will have his own ideas and hopefully he doesn't just try to be DQ light. The Ravens defensive coordinator for example was better then Wink who he worked under.

I seriously don't know how they sell this. People seem to hate "retreads", and he's done less than Mike.

This feels like a move Snyder would make just to irk Cowboys fans, only that obviously isn't it anymore.
It does feel exactly like something Snyder would do, take our DC and poach a couple of our defensive FA's and feel like it's a coup when most Cowboys fans barely cared if Quinn stayed or left.

The new owner loves his retreads with the Sixers though so who knows?

I hope you're right. And I'm sure he has his own ideas.

But he'll have to balance doing what he wants vs not changing too much and upsetting our band of social media stars.

The OC hire will be the key to his success.
Yeah, and who does he get with so many jobs already filled? Some SF QB coach or something to try to recreate the Falcons Shanahan years?

Someone from here?

It's a pretty fascinating situation IMO.

Doesn't help his cause that they traded their two best pass rushers.

Kellen Moore is still looking for a job, right?

Hopefully he uses the picks from those trades on the next Nashon Wright, Golston, and Mazi. :tippytoe

Why does Shanahan get a pass for the Super Bowl collapse? Or does he not? And it's his success since then that removes the stank? His playcalling once they had the big lead was not good if I remember correctly.

He was probably holding out for Seattle which is now gone.
Agreed, and the fact that they went elsewhere tells you a lot about his HC prospects moving forward.

I think he knew his opportunities were running out and took what he could get, he'll be back to being a DC in about 4 years unless Maye ends up being an MVP caliber QB or he picks another Shannahan out of his ass to be OC.

I'd prefer Rivera to Whitt anyway I think, although I don't think any of it really matters because we're going to be hiring a brand new coaching staff in approximately 11 months and 2 weeks.

In all seriousness what do you think would prevent a whole new coaching staff? It's a high bar at this point. We know winning 12 games and being NFC East champs won't cut it. It's going to take some real post season success. Of course the embarrassing exit this year sort of turned up the pressure 1000 fold. Had we lost to the Packers on some last second fluke play, it may have bought some more grace. But the absolute and total collapse against a young, low level playoff team was inexcusable.

Three straight 12 win seasons almost dooms McCarthy unless he makes the NFC Championship game. You better be a top 4 NFL team next year. Those aren't great odds.
