He is a guy I want to hate but he sort of makes a play as soon as I start hating on him. Just a guy I can't ever totally justify getting rid of.
A lifetime average 20 tackle/1 sack a year dude.

Yeah he doesn't look like a NT, but his run defense is good. I want better but he out plays Gallimore most the time. Which is why we can't seem to get rid of him. He always outplays at least one other DT.

Watkins is pretty spare, but he can move some and plays with good effort so he can do more than just be a stump in the middle. I'd still like to upgrade from him, and I'm sure the team would also considering he didn't even make the team out of camp.

One of the stories I'm curious about is what happened to Bohanna. Everyone including Micah talked him up early, he looked like he played fine against the run to me the first part of the year, then he got a couple of injuries and never really recovered. Not that he was ever expected to be some great player, but to go from starting most of the year to not even active in the playoff game is weird. What little I've seen, he doesn't seen to have a bad attitude. But maybe it's as simple as the coaches thinking he's a run player only and Hankins is just better and more experienced at that one job.

I think Gallimore, Watkins and Bohanna are pretty similar at this point.

Gallimore somehow regressed. That's what I don't get. He at least showed promises and flashes and then last year just looked like total shit. I don't know what happened honestly.

Bohannna I'm just hoping is still learning and figuring out how to be an NFL NT. It's not unusual for it to take some time for a guy to adjust to being an NFL NT. It's why a lot of those types of guys don't blossom the first couple of years in the NFL. I don't know if it's a technique thing or a strength thing but I still hold out some hope for the guy. I don't think he is a total waste of a roster spot. I think sometimes he just tries to be more than he is. I think he wants to be more than just a run clogger instead of just focusing on being the best run clogger that he can be. I hope that Hankins can kind of teach him and take him under his wing in that role.

Watkins is just steady eddy. He isn't good but he isn't bad. He can make a play here or there but he is never really a liability. That's useful until you can find someone better. Right now I don't think Gallimore is even that, he is just bad.

Watkins is better than a third round NT? Says who? (Besides twitter rando Dominic White.)

To regress, you have to establish a consistent quality of play and then slip backwards.

He never developed any sort of quality play to regress from.

The dude literally has had one strong game in his entire career and that was in his rookie season.

Yeah except he is maxed out. That third or fourth round NT you're hoping will become better as time goes and you've got a veteran to hold it down in the mean time already.

How often does that mid round pick actually work out though?

For example, maxed out though he may be it's most likely that Watkins is better than Bohanna will ever be.

If there's a guy there that they like, by all means draft him. But don't force it. That's the value of a guy like Watkins.

This really takes me back to the days when you were talking shit about Boozestrong.

You see, Armstrong got to that point where you expect a certain level and Gallimore has not even got to that level of suck.

Very true.

He played pretty well as a constant recall from the PS, but if you are bringing back the same band, I don't think he was a key cog.
Perhaps without Watkins they'll be more inclined to take a DT fairly high in the draft.
Between Maliek Collins, Galli-bust and Osa, it seems the third round it typically their sweet spot.
