I could see that happening.

I really don't think he's going to garner much interest on the open market, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if he asked to come back at a very low salary and the Cowboys agreeing to it because the organization thinks so highly of him.

I really hope some team comes in and gives him 7 mill a year or whatever because I'd really hate for there to be any opportunity for him to return.

Then you still have the notion that he is RB2.

Yeah, I'm just ready to move on.

I think a mid round rookie RB, which essentially is a minimum contract, will actually be a better player. Get someone with some speed and go.
Yeah, if I'm getting a bruising RB I at least one with some contact balance who can possible break a 15 yard run. Zeke just doesn't have much left. And in passing situations it's laughable. Defenses can't possibly be concerned with him catching the ball. When he caught it he went down almost immediately. The only thing he was good for on a passing play was picking up the blitz. As a defensive coordinator I'd be salivating at that.

Picking up his 5th year option and then letting him walk in FA was the correct move.
It's why Pollard getting the franchise tag might not be a bad idea. Draft a guy, develop him this year and then move on from Pollard after this year. The 10 mil price is hard to stomach. You're paying him like a Barkley or Josh Jacobs who I think are superior RBs but at the same time you keep a weapon and buy yourself time to develop the next in line guys a little.

This makes me uncomfortable. I like Dak. I like him more than most on this board. But he kind of sounds like a heart broken girl. It's a business, you can still be friends with the guy but players come and go and RB's lose their usefulness quickly. Focus on your job and worry about friendships and fun outside of your job.

It also makes me think that letting the guy go is the right decision. Zeke was so well loved by guys like Dak that you never would have been able to sufficiently reduce his role to justify keeping him. Maybe now Dak won't be dumping the ball off on third and 10 to a RB who falls down for 2 yards.

honestly, you have to think it's awkward for Dak. Who thought Dak would be here longer than Zeke? Or even that Dak might still be in the league 8 years in? Look at these QBs taken ahead of Dak:

Its pretty interesting in retrospect.

It's a whole new everything for Dak, hopefully he owns it.

Zeke's first year was far and away his best. It went down from that high point.

Well, I think we should all know he is a bit…sensitive.

It is.

It is clear he had it rough and he has coped to become what he has. It is also clear to me that he takes things way too personal with his emotions hanging out there no matter how hard he tries to hide it.
