Who gives a shit if his daddy coached or not? Garrett's daddy was a coach, too.
You mean TomYES! His entire professional career, as both player and coach, has been in one system, and it clearly shows in his playcalling. You think he carried over something his dad told him when he was 12?
Because, like, his dad ran a different system and taught him how to diversity his coaching portfolio... or some such shit.Who gives a shit if his daddy coached or not? Garrett's daddy was a coach, too.
What you posted here isn’t bolded but now after reading all the comments you seem to think Moore is locked into one system. Is that your contention?Posted 3 times so LT can see it.
I just can't.What you posted here isn’t bolded but now after reading all the comments you seem to think Moore is locked into one system. Is that your contention?
hit the showers, kid. Well done.I'm done.
You know what, fuck it, I got time to kill. What you posted here isn’t bolded but now after reading all the comments you seem to think Moore is locked into one system. Is that your contention?
This is correct. You had ‘Tom’ in bold
And that is a reasonable assumption, but you cannot say he is just uninfluenced by two dominant forces as he has been growing along with the game in Petersen and Linehan. Often it looks a lot like how Petersen's offenses looked when he failed at Washington. They ran plays, just a bunch of plays and they lacked a tempo and focused flow of the offense. It really does look at times that a lack of a defined system is the system. Every now and then you will see the same damn play that Linehan would run. To me it just makes things harder on the players themselves as they all have to make reads and compliment each other. It requires pretty damn perfect execution. My point was that Kellen Moore has been exposed to a lot of football in his life and he isn’t a student of just one system.
Thought you were making that up, then I saw this...Kellen’s grandfather, Bert Moore, was also a legendary coach at Bloom Township High School in Illinois
It makes sense, though. Influenced by his father’s coaching experience, Kellen’s playbook is rife with simple plays that are staples of high school that Kellen never grew out ofYou know what, fuck it, I got time to kill.
For the 3rd time, yes.
I quoted just the part I am replying to so as not to further confuse the thread. No matter what system is used by a team there has to be player execution so the point being any system is relevant if the players are executing properly. Why is this so inflammatory to some of you?
But, that opinion lends itself to the idiotic idea that football hasn't evolved. Which it has, a lot. Some coaches adapted to that evolution and some didn't. Tom Landry retired because the game had passed him by. Meaning, he couldn't evolve with the game as it changed. It happens. The Otto Graham days of coaching isn't even close to the modern way of coaching. So none of it makes any logical sense. It makes sense, though. Well that can be true at times as well but it’s an opinion because I am sure teams in the past 20 or so years have brand new schemes but still loose games because players didn’t execute properly. In the final analysis and for the most part it’s players that determine a games outcome.I quoted just the part I am replying to so as not to further confuse the thread.
This isn't true either. If you have a shit scheme/system, and your players execute it flawlessly, you can still be a losing team because of it.
and some of us are saying that a Scott Linehan protege' doesnt impress. To Everyone: I posted a response regarding a statement that indicate Kellen Moore was only using one offense system he learned at one of his jobs. I related how he had been exposed to football all his life and wasnt locked into one system. I then went on to say football is essentially the same as it has been for many years with some exceptions. And in addition things of the the past were still relevant today. That’s my opinion. Whether there is a salary cap or not you still have to play the game and besides salary cap issue are more the GMs job since it is a personnel issue. Coordinators have maybe some input but determinations of players are not in most franchises system.

Strategies and schemes may have changed or evolved but the game is the same. Put up the most points to win. But, that opinion lends itself to the idiotic idea that football hasn't evolved.
