when the rules became more rigid, it was because QBs were getting fucked up with defenders helmets torpedoing into QBs helmets (ie Wilbur Marshall & Aikman). Yeah, that’ll make a QB see stars.It wasn't a penalty.
Fast forward to Sunday, Gholston essentially gave a forceable chest chop with his arms. And not on purpose like a Ric Flair chop, but arms coming back down from a swat attempt. We’ve sort of accepted that refs are going to call this most of the time, but it’s absurd for this kind of contact to even be a penalty. It’s a far departure from original intent in QB safety.
When the fuck has a chest chop or hand grazing a helmet led to a concussion. QBs are not small people, either, many the size of LBers themselves.
