I'm with Cavanaugh in that it's ridiculous to expect these spares to be better than they are capable of.

But what the Joneses appear to be saying seems more a shot at McCarthy and the coaching staff.
It is and lines up with the thought this offseason was done purposefully.

I'm now 100% convinced that they are scapegoating McCarthy. Props to @RomoLover94 for originally introducing the idea.

I said earlier in the thread McCarthy seems to be just mailing it in or he would have taken over offense, especially after the jap plays when we were running at will

Eh he is a good player. But he isn't meant to be the only weapon in an offense. He isn't that caliber of receiver.

But literally, beyond Lamb we may have the worst receiver Corp in the NFL right this second.
Exactly.

He's a good player and he's very talented.

He absolutely is a starting NFL receiver, he's just meant to be the #2 guy.

The bigger issue is the fact that we took that #1 away and we haven't compensated for that by at least putting a good, creative mind in charge of the offense.

I mean, it's quite pathetic when you think about it but as far as I'm concerned, there are only two seasons since 2010 where I felt like the Cowboys were legitimately well coached on the offensive side of the football and that was in 2014 and 2016.

I always thought Scott Linehan was a better coach than he was given credit for here. People tend to forget that while he was the "playcaller" and the guy tasked with adding new wrinkles to the offense, he still had to do both within the confines of a Jason Garrett system that was stale as shit and super predictable.

Outside of those 2 years, our offensive coaching has left a lot to be desired.

We also had an OL each of those years that is probably one of the best in the last 20-30 years across the league, it'd take a real dumbass to not be able to put together a strong offense with that.

The problem is that the great offensive minds are able to put together strong offenses with less than ideal talent and maximize the talent they do have.

There's a 0.0% chance our offense would look anything like this with McVay or Shannahan calling plays, and there's a 0.0% chance that either the 49ers or the Rams would've went anywhere as deep in the playoffs as they did last year with Moore calling plays.

The 49ers wouldn't have even made the playoffs.
