I went to training camp in 2002 when it was in San Antonio.

We had a pretty busy off-season as I'm sure you all recall and the best acquisition of them all was La'roi Glover.

The D-line group got close to where I was and were doing drills and when they finished, I yelled out "Welcome to the Cowboys, LG!!"

He looked over and raised his helmet into the air and everyone started cheering and he was hyping the crowd up to make more noise.

I'm certain that Glover still remembers that time when 22 year old homer Ace presented him with one of the highlight moments of his career.

I did meet Harold Carmichael though. He played for the Cowboys briefly so I'm counting him.

We went one year (never again) using a Philly based group package. Included was a meet and greet at the Dallas Hard Rock Cafe where all the other fans on the trip could mingle together, and also mingle with Carmichael and another former Eagle I believe. Can't remember exactly.

Anyway, the entire Hard Rock was packed with Eagles fans. Chanting. All their usual bullshit.

And I'm there with my family wearing my blue Roy Williams jersey. No the other one. 31.

So my brother and I walk up to Carmichael. Hey, big fan, whatever.

And he couldn't get over me wearing a Cowboys jersey in the Dallas Hard Rock that day. Razzed me a bunch. He was a nice guy though, all in fun. I like to think that I reminded him that he once played for Dallas, and he laughingly made the shh gesture, but I frequently like to think better of myself than reality.

This was 2005. It was the year after the Eagles got TO and had been to the super bowl. And eagles fans were feeling themselves like the assholes that they are.

It was also the year after Williams broke TO's ankle with the infamous horse collar. And me wearing my Williams jersey.

So naturally I'd gotten into it with several eagles fans.

I remember one encounter in particular with an Eagles fan in a TO jersey. Him saying how bad TO was going to destroy the cowboys that weekend. And me pulling at my Williams jersey, Do you remember this guy? I bet TO does! ~Furley sniff~

The night ended with me being dragged out physically by my brother and my parents, screaming at the whole restaurant, What's wrong with you? Why do you care who I root for? Why do you care?

And the whole restaurant, and I mean the whole restaurant, chanting in unison at me, Asshole! Asshole!

And as I'm being dragged away, I see in a dark corner of the restaurant Carmichael, pointing at me and silently mouthing, Asshole. Asshole. (Just kidding, I didn't see Carmichael at that point, he was probably already long gone.)

Anyway, for those that remember that game, we spanked the eagles so hard and it was one of the most satisfying wins I can ever remember. A bus full of completely silent eagles fans returning to the hotel is so fucking sweet.

I didn't say a word to any eagles fans after the game. But I did think to myself, who's the asshole now motherfuckers?

@Genghis Khan :lol

Great story.

And yeah, we crushed them that day. I believe we were 2-2 or 3-2 going into that one and really needed a win and a fast start, and the Cowboys scored a quick 21 by moving the ball at will early on.

That one was very satisfying.

I figured you would remember it, you seem to have a great memory for the games over the years.

True story:

I drove 6 hours north to Wichita Falls to watch the Cowboys practice in 114 degree heat.

Darren Woodson was my favorite player on the team at that time and I really was hoping to get an autograph.

I wanted Emmitt's too, but he ignored everybody.

Anyway, practice ends and I make my way down the bleachers to catch the players walking by. They were really accessible back then as they all had to walk by the fans to get to the dorms and they only thing separating them from the fans were a makeshift plastic fence like the kind you might see blocking off road work in the street.

So I get there first and yell over at him and he acknowledges me, but stops to do a quick interview. When the other riffraff noticed that he was going to come over, those bastards swarmed the fence and formed a crowd and got in front me.

Woody walks over, tells the crowd to make room and said "hang on, he was first...."

If you thought I had a man crush on him before that, just imagine how highly I thought of him afterward. :lol

Got him to autograph a photo I had of him celebrating a 4th down stop vs the Steelers in Super Bowl 30.

What a fucking legend he is.

He wasn't a prick or anything, just didn't really want to talk football. He likely had better stuff to do that debate me. lol

Oh you were trying to debate him? Now I get it. :lol He's no question condescending with his opinions.

I don't recall exactly, but honestly, he isn't exactly a giant in the world of football knowledge (or any other world), so I would imagine it had something to do with one of his fluff pieces I had read.

Yeah, I can recall anything prior to 2012 in great detail, even the games from the 90s.

I think that's amazing. I have a decent memory for some things, but I can barely remember details from games from the current year I'm in.

Someone on Twitter posted highlights of Quincy beating the Jets in a day game at NY. Had no recollection of it whatsoever.

Went to the 1989 home opener with my college girlfriend.

We stayed at the Redskins team hotel and I met a few of their players. Todd Bowles was friendly, he talked to me a bit about what the NFL life was like. Seemed level headed and cool, definitely coach material. One of the security guards made the mistake of leaving the player/coach room roster in the lobby so on game day I went around and stole the newspapers of a few coaches (as if that was going to make a fuckin difference in the game, lol). Needless to say, Joe Gibbs did not get his newspaper that morning. It totally flustered him I’m sure. :art

I believe Saturday we toured Texas Stadium (the turf felt like concrete - horrible) and afterward we saw Jerry in the parking lot. I think he was with Goof Son. Anyway, at that point he wasn’t very famous but I pointed him out to someone who we had done the tour with and they took a picture with him. I didn’t want a photo, I thought he was a prick for firing Landry the way he did. Was still cool to see him though. Also after the game people were heckling the shit out of Jerry and Jimmy as they went into the tunnel. “THOUGHT YOU WERE GONNA CHANGE THINGS AROUND HERE JERRY, YOU SUCK!!!!”
