While this is all true, the cowboys got cap flexibility, which is what they said they wanted. That 22.5 million dollar first year cap hit is a big win for both sides.

A lot of people are eviscerating the Joneses and that's fine. This should have been done a year ago and they'd have saved money.

But it definitely should be noted that the franchise is not a big loser on this deal. That first year cap hit is pretty important.

By the time the sticker price on the deal goes into the stratosphere the cap will too. This is actually decent.

No question it could have been better, but it was starting to look like it might be a lot worse. Instead it's pretty manageable.
Yea I love how the narrative is that Prescott is getting "75 million in year 1".

Like yea, with the 66 SB he is, but they could pay him fucking 2 billion in year 1 for all I care as long as the cap hit is manageable. The cap hit is literally all I care about and the fact that the hit over the next 2 years is 22 and 31 is definitely a win.

By 2023 his 42 million cap hit will be at least par for the course and likely below a handful of QB's.

They need to do just about everything KD suggests and then go fix the D in FA and draft decently.

"There’s almost $80 million of 2021 cap savings explained in this article.

A scenario where Dallas keeps one of the two tight ends on the roster and loses Jaylon Smith, Anthony Brown and Jones the punter still nets over $75 million in additional space."

Wow.

Wow.
Why in the fucking hell would we cut Anthony Brown?

His cap hit is like 5 million and he's a passable starting CB, at worst a very good nickel/slot CB.

So these CB whore fans can squawk about needing to take a CB at 10 come high or high water?

Yeah cutting him makes no sense. Possible starter on a cheap deal.

Speaking of that draft, I want it to be well known that I pitched a huge fucking fit when we took Jaylon. It was a fit for the ages. I will link to some of it as I am bored at work and reading through the archives.

Nice pull, I found this little gem from me on the 2nd to last page:

If I was drafting I would've went:

4. Ezekiel Elliott
34. A'Shawn Robinson
67. Yannick Ngakoue
101. Josh Perry
135. Ronald Blair
189. Brandon Allen
212. Jalen Mills
216. Thomas Duarte
217. Charone Peak
How you like that 3rd rounder?

Ronald Blair, Brandon Allen and Jalen Mills is a very solid 3rd day too honestly.

In the interest of transparency, I didn't want Dak, either. I don't think anyone on the board did after reading through some of that draft day chatter thread. @NoDak especially didn't want him.

Yeah I remember thinking Dak would make a very good backup QB but never a starter. I was definitely wrong. I thought he was more of a gimmick passer.
