The Cowboys have played themselves into a f*caked spot.

Everyone else gets 5+ years with their QB’s because they signed EXTENSIONS.

Jerry and Stephen had to be cute and wait till after the new CBA to see what direction the wind was blowing.

News Flash: The price was still increasing.

So now you can’t extend a deal that doesn’t exist.

If Dallas wants a five year deal, the starting point is going to be at least 2 million higher than Deshaun Watson’s 39 per.

I think Watson is better than Dak, and Dak is no longer more durable than Watson. But it doesn’t matter, he’s in the same ballpark and that’s the price.

Why do they need more time? They have had months to think about it. Grab a pen and get moving.
Good question. It's really a dumb stance.

The tag is supposed to be a safety net. Not "the plan."

Do they think Dak is going to take less if the cap goes down? QB deals exist outside of the cap.

4yrs vs 5yrs

That’s the dealbreaker, apparently.
They can still discuss. Negotiate after a certain point. No need to use the tag because they have seen enough to know. Just give the 4 and move on.

The first time he’s been injured, and now he’s not durable?
Yeah but it was a fucked up injury that cost him a season and we don’t know how it will affect him moving forward. That’s kind of what durable means, available because you’re not hurt. He wasn’t.

Watson has missed 9 games to injury and Dak has missed 11. Mahomes has missed 2.

I don't mind them using the tag to gain themselves time to negotiate, but that is all it should be used for this year. It shouldn't be the plan.

Yet Romo missing 12 games 2015 and 9+ games 2016 was supposedly durable enough

BRINGING IT FULL CIRCLE!!!

To not be considered durable there has to be a history. Nobody should consider 1 event to be a recurring problem.

It can become a crutch. Just get in a room and get it done because its just a foregone conclusion that he will be a Cowboy.

As an aside, so Dak got paid his whole ~$35M by now, right? Any reports on what he bought — Highland Park home, Lambo, etc?

Woodys Girl get a showing?
