It’s not like there is a drought on available players in the country. Players come and go. If Prescott left it would be about the same result as what has been the record of the team over the past few years. A pretty good Quarterback with a good crop of support players would probably yield the same or better results than before. Prescott isn’t at the level of a Tom Brady who can compensate for the lack of grade A players.

Prescott certainly wasn't in 2017, though it's hard to know that is still true today.

Clearly no QB could overcome the shit Dallas fielded defensively in 2020.

Great as Brady's career has been, he never ever lacked a defense to bail him out. And when he didn't have as elite a defense, the refs let them hold or pulled tuck-rule bullshit.

Seems a little crazy we went 1-3 with Dak, 4-7with Dalton and they won the game they split due to injury. Dalton won with a shredded OL and they both dealt with the garbage D

Well Brady must just be plain lucky then. His luck has allowed him to be in a place no other player has attained.

And to have been paired with a HC/GM who understood the value of defense and situational defense. It also didn’t hurt to have played in a division that remained weak and QB-less for twenty years.

People make too much of the Cowboys record in the games Dak started last year. Unless they're incredibly biased, there's not a person out there who thinks Dalton is an equal or better option at QB than Dak.

Dak didn't play with a stout OL either. He was without both starting OTs in most of the games he played.

As for the defense.....the defense was garbage all year, but it was much worse the first 5 games of the season. They didn't start turning the corner until they finally decided to get rid of dead weight like Poe & Griffen around midseason. That's also about the time the offense stopped turning the ball over as much and the defense finally started getting turnovers, which finally gave the offense some short fields to work with. Seemed like that hadn't happened in a couple of years.

Also played with the worst version of Steele. Steele played much better later.

Uh yeah and turnovers. The defense finally started creating turnovers later in the season. They couldn't buy a turnover at the start of the season. And Zeke at least cut back in the fumbling as the season went on. Turnover margins are huge when you want to win games.

Yeah, Zeke's fumbles killed us early in the year.

Yeah, I mentioned the turnovers.

Zeke's fumble splits:
Weeks 1-8: 5 fumbles
Weeks 9-17: 1 fumble

Correct.

And the first four games were probably the toughest part of the schedule, with 3 of the 4 opponents making the playoffs.

The Rams were a playoff team and had one of the top defenses.

To beat the falcons they needed 40. To beat Seattle they would have needed 39. To beat the Browns the would have needed 50.

They were averagi 30 something points per game in the first 4 with Dak.

Meanwhile without Dak, they put up 10 in a loss to the Cardinals, 3 in a loss to Washington, 9 in a loss to the eagles, 19 in a loss to Pittsburgh, 16 in a second loss to Washington, 17 in a loss to the Ravens, and 19 in the final loss to the Giants.

This isn't a difficult puzzle to solve.

I'm betting he wants 38 on a 4 year deal but we will see.
And if the report is true, they aren't that far apart but the problem apparently remains that they won't seem to come down on the years which appears to be just dumb at this point.
