This shit just got a whole lot more interesting. Dak got a wake up call; he's not in the family portrait.

What’s the basis for saying most OU fans don’t like Hurts?
Well, I wouldn't say I dislike him, I just think he will struggle without superior talent around him.

Yep, everyone wants shorter deals now because they want another bite at the apple on these massive signing bonuses. It's why Dak's deal isn't done.
If a contract is signed in 2019 and goes to 2024, is it a 4 or 5 year deal?

I was looking at:

of the top 9 QB contracts, only 3 got (actual) 4 year deals: Wilson, Rogers, and Tannehill. The first two have rings and they're closer to the end of their careers than the beginning. Tannehill is "only" making $29.5 per...

Dak wants $38+ AND 4 years? Fuck him.

Look at all the recent deals, Wentz, Goff, Rodgers, Wilson. All 4 year deals. And Dak basically wants to be paid right in that pack of QBs.

I just don't see the talent as an every down QB and passer at the NFL level.

Teams figured him out in the 2nd half of the season which is why you saw him holding the ball more down the stretch of the year. And most of his passing yards seemed to come off of broken plays where'd use his legs to make something happen on scramble drills. His overall numbers in the stat sheet looked fine but if you sat through the entire game you'd see that he was incredibly flawed and that he was essentially a one read QB.

I ran across one of those PFF stats the other day that said that on passing plays Jalen Hurts held the ball longer than all FBS QBs. I believe that information because it aligns with what I watched each week. A QB who was an incredibly slow decision maker.

Wentz and Goff got 4 year extensions, Eagles and Rams got the benefits of 5 years.

Any time these guys do a big extension they drag their feet and take fucking forever thinking they're playing hardball and then when the deadline hits they ultimately cave.

They waited all the way up until about 5 days before the regular season before extending Elliott, they waited until basically the deadline for tagged players before extending Lawrence and they let Cooper actually hit free agency for about a day before extending him.

All at the top of the market, even though they're all structured to where we can get out of them relatively easily.

I'm sure they'll wait until a day or two before the deadline in July until they finally extend Prescott and it'll almost certainly be at the top of the market. They better just hope that Watson or Mahomes don't get extensions before then.

No offense but that's on the Cowboys for not doing the deal last offseason. It's a 4 year deal either way.

I wouldn't trade Dak for Wentz or Goff honestly, even if Wentz was perfectly healthy I think it'd be a toss up.

More durable, sure. But I think it's arguable when it comes right down to actual skills. Certainly not, 'definitely'.
Wentz is the better pure passer, but that injury history is nasty.
Might factor in Dak's 21 career rushing TDs just for the heck of it.
But Dak's definitely not in Rodgers' and Wilson's league...
Goff is the worst of the bunch, IMO.
