HIs college career is every bit as good as Prescott’s. He came in at Alabama and filled in very well. He made a transition to Oklahoma and was good enough to get the team to the the championship round. The team that ruled the college ranks and put them away was also the same one who made the perennials in the SE Conference bite the dust. Hurts had a very successful college career and he played pretty well. Clemson, LSU and Georgia are a bane to a lot of teams. I wonder what Kansas City could have been thinking to take Mahomes with his teams record against some teams.
I'm not talking about just losing to those teams. There's no shame in losing to teams like Clemson and LSU. But Jalen Hurts usually struggled mightily versus those teams. Mahomes may have lost a lot at Texas Tech but he was at least throwing for over 350 yards and putting 40+ points on the board practically every week. So that's not a valid point.
In the 2016 CFB Playoffs:
vs Washington he went 7/14 for 57 yards
vs Clemson he went 13/31 for 131 yards and 1 TD
In the 2017 CFB Playoffs:
vs Clemson 16/24 for 120 yards and 2 TDs
vs Georgia 3/8 for 21 yards
In the 2018 CFB Playoffs:
He backed up Tua and only got minimal mop up work.
In the 2019 CFB Playoffs:
vs LSU 15/31 for 217 yards and 1 INT
Those are just the playoff games. If I included his regular season games against Alabama's two biggest rivals, LSU and Auburn, the numbers are pretty much the same. The guy sucks against quality opponents and pads his stats vs every one else.
Compare his performances to Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray vs those same opponents. Oklahoma may have lost those games but Baker and Kyler would normally put up a solid performance against those great defenses.
I don't see how anyone can look at that track record and defend Jalen Hurts.
