I saw a segment earlier today claiming Jalen Hurts is a possible target for the Cowboys just because they spoke with him.

This place would have to be put on mandatory "site maintenance" if the Cowboys used one of their first 3 picks on Jalen Hurts.

A ton of Cowboys fans are already unsatisfied with Dak's abilities as a QB. Well Dak is Tom freaking Brady compared to Jalen Hurts when it comes to going through progressions, processing information quickly, and throwing with accuracy and anticipation.
I would take him at 3 and certainly at 4. His college career was pretty successful and his performance and stats are just as good.as Prescott’s.

Its just because of the video interview. But I'm sure we had a lot of video interviews. I think the Coeboys released that one to prod at Dak a little to sign his deal.

If that’s all you folks are able to state then you’ve said nothing. Tell me what your aversion is don't just act like you are going to faint. Spell it out.

His accuracy and anticipation blow. He benefited playing for some great systems but lacks the tools to be an NFL starter because he can't make NFL level passes. Might be an OK backup due to athletic ability.

I really doubt it in a premium round. Now if he were sitting there in the 4th, then it gets a little more reasonable.

LT, when you have a moment go look at Jalen Hurts passing numbers throughout his career whenever he had to play against real competition like Clemson, LSU, and Georgia.

His performances were on par with Quincy Carter. And that's not hyperbole.

HIs college career is every bit as good as Prescott’s. He came in at Alabama and filled in very well. He made a transition to Oklahoma and was good enough to get the team to the the championship round. The team that ruled the college ranks and put them away was also the same one who made the perennials in the SE Conference bite the dust. Hurts had a very successful college career and he played pretty well. Clemson, LSU and Georgia are a bane to a lot of teams. I wonder what Kansas City could have been thinking to take Mahomes with his teams record against some teams.

I'm not talking about just losing to those teams. There's no shame in losing to teams like Clemson and LSU. But Jalen Hurts usually struggled mightily versus those teams. Mahomes may have lost a lot at Texas Tech but he was at least throwing for over 350 yards and putting 40+ points on the board practically every week. So that's not a valid point.

In the 2016 CFB Playoffs:
vs Washington he went 7/14 for 57 yards
vs Clemson he went 13/31 for 131 yards and 1 TD

In the 2017 CFB Playoffs:
vs Clemson 16/24 for 120 yards and 2 TDs
vs Georgia 3/8 for 21 yards

In the 2018 CFB Playoffs:
He backed up Tua and only got minimal mop up work.

In the 2019 CFB Playoffs:
vs LSU 15/31 for 217 yards and 1 INT

Those are just the playoff games. If I included his regular season games against Alabama's two biggest rivals, LSU and Auburn, the numbers are pretty much the same. The guy sucks against quality opponents and pads his stats vs every one else.

Compare his performances to Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray vs those same opponents. Oklahoma may have lost those games but Baker and Kyler would normally put up a solid performance against those great defenses.

I don't see how anyone can look at that track record and defend Jalen Hurts.

To me he is a fourth round prospect. I think an NFL team will take him sooner thinking he can be a gadget guy like Hill for New Orleans. I just don't think he is the same ttpe of athlete to do that.

I could see that. I just don't think there's a team eyeing him as a potential starter.

Lamar Jackson may have opened a few more eyes and changed a few opinions on what athletic QBs can do at the NFL level, but even he has struggled a lot during his two trips to the postseason. At the end of the day in order to win it all, you have to have a QB who can make the tough throws and who can win games with his arm on a consistent basis. There have only been a few exceptions to this rule.

I’m not defending him. I think he is a pretty good football player. You picked a few games and decided his career on that. Go here and see what the majority of his career was like.

jalen hurts highlights. And there’s plenty more.
