Those are some good questions. I'm 100% free market, but the food safety questions are valid. There should be a standard in my opinion. Does it come from the federal level or is it left up to the states is a better question. ADA access should be mandated.

I cant recommend these two shows below enough. Its fascinating to learn the origins of many products we take for granted today and to see how crazy shit got back in the day which caused the pendulum to swing toward more laws and regulation and back and forth ever since

in the food that built America show, the Gov stepped in to regulate food because the companies were ruthless putting all kinds of crap in the food to make it appear fresh, bigger servings (saw dust in the cereal), etc

I tend to think like you but when these big companies get ruthless for profits, how does the free market protect itself without some kind of negative consequence for such behavior?

This might surprise you, but just as Fox News doesn't all speak with the same voice (i.e. the actual news guys often contradict the opinion guys), neither does the MSM. You have a handful of articles here from January or very early February but there were plenty of other articles raising alarm. These articles were a response to those. Nobody was expecting the scope of this pandemic but then it wasn't Anthony Fauci writing these articles.

If you really want to watch somebody in the medical community who was really on top of this, there is this:

This is pretty hard to watch at this time. You basically get a timeline of the outbreak day by day with talks on the basic science as well as articles about treatment. It was really rough for me to go day by day knowing what we know now. It's like watching a car accident in slow speed. That being said, if you can stomach it, there is a ton to be learned. This is not political at all, by the way. Don't think this guy has much interest in that. He likes the science and giving information to partitioners to keep them safe.

IMHO, the whole "but he said this but they said that" is a never ending black hole in which we could volley back and forth in perpetuity.

Somehow, we have to find a way to intelligently discuss the issues that matter in a constructive way but it seems to be a pipe dream since it appears everyone is having more fun trying to pwn one another and feel superior. Actually that was my bad. I didn't read the text. I just thought the story was interesting. This wasn't on the President although he did seem to back the firing in his PC.

Seems like you have a Commanding Officer who sacrificed his career for his men. I understand why he got fired but he felt he was not getting sufficient support to save his men and escalated. Of course his men love him for it. He cared more for them than for himself or the chain of command.
