I own rental property that I've spent the last 30 years acquiring and paying off the loans so I have a retirement that isn't dependent upon social security, so when I see this kind of shit, I can only hope they are outliers because while our system isn't perfect, its the best I've seen thus far and I'd rather have lots of individuals with wealth than all wealth controlled by the gov.

The truth is, Trump probably wouldn't have won if Hillary hadn't been such a terrible candidate. I don't see how that's very debatable when Trump won states that Obama had won just four years earlier.

I don't think most people vote for someone as a fuck you to anyone. They vote for someone because they think their candidate is better for themselves and the country than the other one.

Point is, maybe you're personalizing this too much.

Exactly right. To say he was voted in as a "Fuck you to people like me" is just an over dramatization with zero actual truth.

Trump was voted in mainly to keep Hillary Clinton OUT. Not because he was some great candidate. But when he made it out of the primaries as the candidate? Yeah. He was a no brainer choice, then. The democrats and "people like me" have nobody to blame but themselves for Trump being in office. Trying to force Hillary Clinton into the Oval Office got them exactly that.

You should only withhold rent if your landlord is failing you in some way (no heat, rusty pipes, refuses to make repairs, etc.) Because of the unprecedented circumstances, I'm sure most of them are willing to work with you based on what you're getting from unemployment every month.

I'm not trying to argue or belittle your point of view but why do we have to use words like left and right and center?

Why cant we dialogue on issues and leave what side one is on out of the discussion?

We are not beholden to these parties nor do we have to maintain the exact same position politically on every issue. We can collectively reason together in a constructive, mutually beneficial dialogue if we choose and its what I wish we could be better at as a collective in the US

I know, I know, another pipe dream like my previous post. But!...perhaps if we shoot for the stars though, we might at least hit the moon, or however that saying goes

I'll work with my tenants if we get to that and we probably will. Its the mindset that I owe them something and I'm just a lazy fucker who got tenants to pay their mortgage so I could "hoard real estate" that I abhor.

If this goes on, then the city needs to freeze property taxes for several months so the landlords dont have to bear the brunt of the full loss in revenue.

These dumbasses that seem to hate landlords dont understand that rent is not 100% profit. In fact, property taxes have gotten so high in Dallas, its hard to get much of a return after all expenses but given you cant get a decent return on investment in bonds, CD's, etc where your principal is "protected", I cant think of a better place to park capital. I "think" real estate is a good hedge against inflation (& hyper inflation) which we're bound to have eventually at the rate our government is now printing (& spending) money.

Check out the graffiti on a local apartment complex here in Dallas. ( If the economy is shut down too long, people are going to lose their shit). Also, fun comments by folks who are not fans of landlords (I'm screen capturing all these peoples names and will review the list every time someone applies for one of my rentals):

If he doesn’t hit a chord that resonates in most Republicans, how did he win those primaries over much better candidates? Supposed real Republicans, since I often hear Trump is Republican in name only, with many even opposing him even after he won?
