I don't think Jerry is interested in anyone on the staff of LSU or Clemson
I'd be interested in Dabo Swinney, but he'd be a damned fool to take the job unless he was parachuting out of some sanctions before people find out who got paid.

Dabo is annoying to me but a great coach. I'm guessing if he was my coach he wouldn't annoy the shit out of me anymore.

I'd be willing to give almost anybody (Riley, Meyer, any half way decent NFL coordinator/assistant) a chance after dealing with this gump Garrett for 10 years but Roman is really the guy I'd prefer.

In 2011 he built an offense around Alex Smith, the running game and mediocre WR's/TE's that got the 49ers to the NFCC. In 2012 they switched to Kaepernick midseason and got within 5 yards of the Super Bowl with the same supporting cast built around a strong running game. He coaxed a Pro Bowl season out of career backup Tyrod Taylor. He's taken a very limited passer in Jackson and built the Ravens offense into one of the most dynamic in the league with average WR's/TE's and a multi-faceted running game.

Jackson isn't the guy who made Roman, it's the other way around. Roman has built dynamic run-centered offenses with and without Jackson, and he's found creative ways to get explosive plays out of the passing game built off the threat of the Ravens running game.

Dak is obviously no Jackson as far as a runner but he's a far superior passer and our offensive talent in general is better than the Ravens. Better OL, better RB's, better WR's, the only advantage the Ravens have is at TE.

I'd love to see what he can do with our offensive personnel and hopefully he could bring some of the Ravens DNA to the horse shit country club fuckery that goes on in this organization.

Everyone loves Jackson right now but could you imagine what he would look like under someone like Garrett? Everyone would be screaming bust. Not all offensive coordinators are capable of tailoring an offense to the talent they have. Roman is and not only that but his offenses have proven to work in the playoffs as well. I'm totally on board with you on this one. With our power running game and a QB who can throw and run and I think we would get back to a control the clock offense that helps the defense look better than they are. Then go burn some resources on the defense to make them better.

I doubt Jerry will think this way but maybe it's why Jerry isn't worried about making moves for a coach right now. He knows that nothing can be done until a team like the Ravens are done with the playoffs.

I like what Roman does, but I'm wary of the Xs and Os offensive guru being promoted to HC, especially with an elite talent like Jackson.

The biggest thing about Jackson is the organization's willingness to basically install a college offense for him. Not many franchises would do that, and I doubt that was Roman's call. But I think many OCs could do that if that's what the higher ups (HC or GM) wanted.

100% agree, wherever he goes he takes the building blocks given to him and makes a custom offense out of it, unlike most 'offensive geniuses' who go around with 500 page playbooks and spend most of their career dining out on the one time they had all the right shaped pegs to fit in the holes dictated by their system.

You guys are really buying into the Roman stuff way too much. The Cowboys are not a stable organization like the Ravens. Or even the 49ers under Jed York.

really?

Jackson looks like he has far more velocity, a better spiral and no worse accuracy but I admit I've only seen a few games and mostly highlights and dont know what the hell I'm talking about when it comes to player evaluation

Yeah, I don't agree with that either. It is hard to judge because the offenses are so different and Jackson is throwing to wide open guys a lot of the time. Jackson has some bad misfires from time to time, but so does Dak.

Dabo is not a great coach. He's a great college coach, but I wouldn't say he's a great coach if that makes sense.

Mind you, I hate Clemson, but I don't think I'm biased on this one bit. Dabo benefits greatly by a very cohesive coaching staff. Brent Venebles has been his assistant forever, and he's arguably one of the best DC's in college football. Strangely, he loves it at Clemson and doesn't want a HC gig. Earlier this offseason, Clemson lost an offensive assistant who took a head coaching job somewhere, and he was the first assistant Dabo has had to replace in years.

Add to it, Dabo feasts on an embarrassingly bad ACC. Virginia Tech sucks. Florida State sucks. Miami is a dumpster fire. Dabo has no competition in the ACC. He basically doesn't play anyone until the CFP.

I think Dabo is a good motivator. His players love him and its kind of like a cult down there. But I don't think his style would work in the NFL. NFL players won't eat out of his hand like college kids would. I don't think he's got the X's and O's to make it as an actual coach.

Lets not forget Dabo was a questionable hire when Clemson hired him, and he was almost run off after several years on the job for mediocre performance. He's also benefiting by having back to back amazing quarterbacks. How many times you see in college a team go from a Dashaun Watson to a Trevor Lawrence? That is insane luck.

But then again I live in Clemson/gamecock country and both have incredibly obnoxious fans so I have a sincere disdain for both.

Strange to me how theres more Clemson/Gamecock fans in Charlotte than there are UNC or NC State fans.

The Ravens offense is built entirely on the running game, Jackson is basically last in the league in attempts per game and the vast majority of his throws are built off of the threat of the running game. He's almost never out there in 4 or 5-wide, simply dropping back and making throws, there's always some sort of RPO/play-action type of movement to simplify things for him in the passing game.

Even in Dak's rookie year when the training wheels were on he was throwing the ball 30+times a game on average, Jackson is averaging right around 26 attempts per game, which might not sound like a huge difference but it's pretty drastic when you consider that the league average is usually right around 32 attempts per game.

He might have a stronger arm but I don't think he has the ability to carry a traditional passing game or make multi-level, tight window throws when defenses are sitting back playing the pass as well as Dak. I have absolutely no doubt that if you made a 1:1 replacement with this year's versions of their teams Dak would be an MVP candidate in Baltimore while Jackson would generally be floundering with a handful of highlight reel plays each game given how straight-forward our offense is.
