I have no doubt Jerry wants to let him finish this before announcing he is gone. I'm sure it's Jerry's way of letting him sort of sit down and say goodbye to each player before he leaves. Or Garrett is coming back. But I still don't think that's the case.

Werder was just on NFL Live on ESPN. Get this.

Apparently Garrett is arguing that he wasn't allowed full control of the offense and calling plays like he wanted in his final "prove it" year, so he deserves another chance... and Jerry may be at least considering it because he told Jason no. Werder said Jerry kind of hinted at this at the end of the year when referring to some staff changes that could have been different (something like that).

Was that news that Garrett insisted he call plays going into this year? I don't really remember that, but now that I think about it, maybe I did hear something about that after Linehan was fired.

And what gives Garrett the right to demand or insist anything after nine years of failure? The nerve of this guy. Unreal.

I think Jerry finally met a bigger snake oil salesman than himself.

He used to call plays. He sucked at it. That should be the end of that discussion. Would be classic Garrett though. Always someone elses fault. Makes sense why our offensive play calling didn't seem consistent from game to game. I sure Garrett was in a power struggle trying to dictate the offense.

We have literally tried every way possible to help Garrett succeed. We let him call the plays that didn't work. We let him be a walk around head coach, that didn't work. We let him surround himself with former players as coaches who will fall in line, that didn't work. We tried pairing him with different assistants and that didn't work. Literally there is nothing else left to do. He just brings nothing to the table. I have no idea why everyone paints him as such a great guy. He reminds me of the type of person who is super nice to your face but will fuck you over when your back is turned. I think he is really good at politics.

I remember back in 2013 and '14 when literally all the reporters close to the team said Jason never wanted to give up play calling, but the homers claimed it was Jason's decision. Of course Jason claimed that to the world, but I guess some can't believe he'd tell a lie.

I could even see Garrett somewhat willingly giving it up so that he can come back later and use it as an excuse as to why the team failed. We shouldn't be surprised though. All season long when something went wrong it was Moores fault, the special teams coaches fault, the WRs coaches fault. I guess when you do nothing it's easy to blame others when things go wrong.

My mouth is agape. WTF... His shitty playcalling was all over the offense far too many times last year. Besides, the offense isn't even why our season failed. It was mostly the defense.

More than even the defense it was special teams. If we even had decent special teams we would be in the playoffs right now. Yes field goal kicking is a big part of that but I'm not just talking about Maher. We sucked at punting, we sucked at returning. We were literally near the bottom of everything in special teams. And Garrett did nothing to fix it except cut Maher after it costs us many wins.

I actually was just thinking this might be the case, that all these meetings are because Garrett is fighting for his job.

Yep. Garrett pays lip service to all three phases but he seemed pretty content to ignore not only field goal kicking but punting and field position gains you can squeeze out of special teams.

Yep, Garrett knows full and well that he has a spell over Jerry and the further removed they get from the last game the easier it'll be to manipulate Jerry.

It's pathetic and if this moron is back as HC next year I'm out until he's gone for good.

The fact that he couldn't call plays was a GOOD thing.

The reason that the offense didn't make even more progress is because his stank is still all over the scheme. It's still his playbook.

This fucking guy.

The fact that he had less control of the offense actually helped him, not hindered him.

Fuck this MF'er. And people think he wouldn't undermine the HC if he were to come back in a front office type of position?

Get this arrogant fucking loser out of here already.
