Exactly what the public school system has done the last 40ish years.
At least the public school system isn't trying to make them believe that a "talking snake in a tree" caused the downfall of man-kind, that the earth was made in 7 literal 24 hour days and is only around 5000 years old, or that all the animals on earth were saved from a flood by being led 2x2 onto a giant boat. And the ridiculous list goes on and on and on and on....

But hey, don't forget that 10% tithe every payday! You're doing Gawds work, son!

yes teaching kids how to read is similar in any way to pounding a fairy tale into a kids head before they can distinguish between fantasy and reality. will there be anything else, Sergeant Red Herring, or are you through talking nonsense?

You don't know that a lot of what the Bible says isn't fantasy. Almost everyone agrees that the stories of creation are parables so who is arguing a red herring now?

Maybe if they were doing that instead of indoctrinating them with their liberal agenda we'd be better off right now.

Education changes cultures. There is no doubt about that whatsoever. That is the exact reason why there is such a fight from the left and right to control the eduction system. Obviously the left has been winning the battle recently. The whole situation is sad when you really think about it. Fighting over kids to push political agendas. What a cheap way to make your case. Sheesh.

That is why I don't participate in the watered down public education system. I'd rather my kids really get educated instead of dumbed down.

Not trying to suggest that learning about opposing views is equivalent to being dumbed down. I'm good with learning actual facts, theories and opposing views.

If this turns into another big private v. public school debate I'm staying out of it this time. My view is clearly the correct one, I just do not wish to share it with all of you.

As far as religion is concerned, I see no problem with spreading religion as long as you aren't forcing anyone to accept your views. Take that for what it's worth.

I thought Star Trek was filmed in actual space until I was about 6. Parable that.

Agreed. Christians are only commanded to share, not force.

Ironic that this comes from a grown man who believes, among other things, that "the devil" is real and rules the fiery underworld.

Like they say, Satan's greatest trick was convincing the world he didn't exist.

The point is obviously that 5 year olds don't understand allegory. Neither do alot of 50 year old literalists. (see above)
