I’ve tried to soften my stance on Ryobi. I’ve even went as far to suggest it’s a good platform for the occasional weekend warrior to make people feel better.

That said, I’d rather show up butt naked to a job before I’d show up with a line of Ryobi tools like I'm about to do something amazing.

I've never claimed they were pro-level tools, but I've still got the set I bought 22 years ago when we first bought our house.

I've fully remodeled several rooms, built decks, docks, porches for family & friends, and for 10 years we built a haunted house in our yard with 300+ pallets.

The tools work, but they're not macho.

They're cheap, but I don't give a shit.

You show up naked on our job and I'm gonna grab the Ryobi 18v toilet plunger.

Well you never have to worry about looking like you're about to do something amazing anyway, so there's that.

I have an ICON 1/2” digital torque wrench and it’s every bit as accurate and good as the Snap On torque wrench I had about 6 years ago.
Unfortunately the Snap On left with a friend who “borrowed” it then decided to move away and was never heard from again.

Anyways, I am an ICON tool fan for sure…much better than the new Craftsman/Husky/Kobalt shit that’s peddled out there. Some of the ICON vs Snap On YT vids are pretty damaging to Snap On and Matco tool snobs.

This is an entertainment center/bookcase I’m currently doing out of cherry. I’m making doors and drawers today and tomorrow, then stain next week a few days.

I have an intense hate for the person I’m building it for. I feel like he’s requested a dozen alterations during this project and every single one of them have been at the worst possible point in the build.

I think the worst alteration was when he requested, after the cabinets were all set and face frames on, instead of baseboard along the bottom, he wanted a 3/8” toe kick. This was after I build the platform out flush with the unit and cut the floor.

He thought it would be easy to remove the cabinets and alter the platform. I wanted to walk off the job and just forfeit payment altogether.

Then he has the audacity to ask me yesterday if we’re going to make our timeline for completion. Yeah, fuckhead, as long as you leave me the fuck alone, quit changing shit and let me finish.

Well, Thats as far as I’m going on this particular project. The asshole kept going with his “scope creeping” and I finally asked him if he’s planning on paying me for all the extras. I was originally asked to build the cabinets as you saw in the original photos. He bought all the material and I gave him a price for labor.

He’s a friend of my Dad’s, so I was reluctant to do this thing from the start. People always expect you to do more and never ask how much. The cunt faggot told me day 1 that he wanted to order cabinet doors from a company he deals with in southern CA, which kinda threw me for a loop, but I was fine with it. When I finished the original scope, he asked me if I was ready for the material for the doors so I could start building them. I told him it was probably cheaper to buy them like he originally wanted to. It took me a couple days to put them together, so I was going to be nice and just charge him $500. Turns out this asshole thought I was doing them as part of the original scope. So I built and stained them out of the kindness of my heart I guess.

It turned into an argument. I just told him to keep the money he owed me and shove the doors up his ass.

So yeah, there’s nothing I hate more than leaving a project unfinished. I still have filling and sanding to do on the joints and burn marks(cherry is so easy to burn, even with a good blade). He had the audacity to ask me to leave the wood filler(I put a handful of first and leaves in it and mixed it in to ruin it) I custom made so it matches the cheery when it’s stained. If I needed a felony charge at 42 years old, I would have put the round Jew on his ass.

Definitely the last custom job I do for anyone. I make a good living building and selling furniture that I’m inspired to build. I don’t need the headache of dealing with people anymore.

And I was nice enough to leave the doors. I considered taking them, but it was his lumber.
