That's one of the reasons I was asking, before I get too far down the rabbit hole with one brand I wanted to make sure that brand was good to dive into purchasing all the accessories and stuff. I loved the Ryobi trimmer I got last year, but, it was replacing like a 20 year old gas trimmer that would never start, so, anything made in the last half decade that actually started was probably gonna seem awesome.I will say this… whichever brand you choose, stick with it unless you are going with corded. A lot of tools are sold now without the batteries, (maybe it’s just the higher end tools like Milwaukee, Makita, DeWalt, etc)and they are not compatible with each other. And the batteries are expensive. So you could have a bunch of different tools and only a couple batteries/chargers and make it work.
Yeah, I got their 40v trimmer - the brushless motor one - and it seems pretty awesome to me. I only have like a third of an acre but it tears through it compared to what I'm used to, and doesn't come close to running down the battery. Can't vouch for the lawnmowers but Ryobi 40v yard tools - saws, blowers and trimmers are legit.
They’ve come a long way since they first came out. I personally like Milwaukee and Rigid battery powered stuff myself, more so because of overall battery life and supposed steel gears vs the plastic gears of the other brands. Everyone has their pick though. But I’ve definitely seen an uptick of cabinet guys and trim guys using Ryobi over the last couple years. What's the consensus on Ryobi tools? Do we actually like them, hence the meme, or is it making fun of them for being entry level crap?
I've been getting some Ryobi tools lately.
