Is he recovering from an injury or just trying to hide his real speed?
He claimed a hammy which is why his working out got pushed back this far. He said he was running a forty. Then the day of only does positional drills

So yeah, I think he is probably hiding a forty in the 4.55 or slower range.

His hammy is good enough for the short shuttle, though...

Yeah, I don't think there is an actual injury. And to be fair a number of guys aren't running this year. But gosh, with a corner, speed is just so important. And now I question his speed. This isn't the same as say Jeanty not running.

Even with a 4.55 or whatever I think Johnson would be a good fit in Eberflus' scheme, although he'd have to improve his tackling.

But he's at his best when he can read through the WR to the QB and use his instincts to kind of float in his zone and make plays on the ball. That's exactly what he'd be doing here for the most part, so I could see him being high on our board, although on my own personal list I'd probably have him around 4th or 5th at best.

I agree, a zone heavy scheme is what he needs. But what happens if Eberflus and his scheme are gone in a year or two? Picking a limited corner athletically at 12 is just hard to justify. You make those pick for the next 5 years. Not just for next season. And what happens with Diggs? You cutting him? Moving Bland to the slot? Again, at some point Diggs will be back and does Will Johnson make sense once Diggs is back?

Bland started in the slot as a rookie so I think we'd be fine in terms of the overall fit.

But I agree that Johnson might not be as ideal in another scheme, and given the fact that he seemingly always has some sort of nagging injury I'd rather go elsewhere.

Bland was great in the slot. So I agree that he could move back in the slot without any issues. I think the team likes Revel. But outside of that I'm not sure they view corner as a massive need. I'm just trying to read the signs but it seems like there is Revel and then we are looking at day 3 corners. Is this more of a corner depth issue and less of a we need a starting corner now thing?

Aside from the QB's the guys that stand out are Booker and Simmons, I guess the league feels pretty confident they'll both go top 20ish.
Simmons is a legit top 20 talent. It's the injury and how teams view it.

Booker on the other hand is one of these guys that you tend to see fall. Not a great athlete but a great player. These guys fall to the second a lot of times. But in this instance they must have good information that teams don't care about his athletic testing because he is a damn guard.

My list at 12 is basically my same list at 18.

Harmon, McMillan, Golden, Mike Green, Grant, Barron, etc.
We really need 4 positions bad. RB, WR, DT and corner. Which means we really need one more pick.

Not saying to ignore other positions. But if you don't get a dude at those positions I'm worried.

Even if you kind of like Mazi, you need someone to split his snaps with.
