@boozeman what does DFDC say?Yeah, only the most cynical fan would have a problem with this guy as DC

I just hope he can bring Eric Washington with him, he was the DL coach for some of those stacked Panthers defenses in the 2010's and then again in Buffalo for a few years before joining Chicago last year.I thought he did a shit ton with minimal talent with the Colts. I like him as a defensive coordinator. I'm not a fan at all as a head coach.
So basically I think it's a good hire for D-coordinator. Colts defense was among the best in run defense during his time. Ranked top 10 in turnovers created each of the 4 seasons he was there. Were top 10 in scoring defense 3 of the 4 years.
So yeah, he did a really good job as a defensive coordinator. I think he will do a really good job here.
He is about like Zimmer, will do okay. But I find him too conservative at times.@boozeman what does DFDC say?
This is a big reason why he got the job.Fuck you, Brian. Every word of that is a lie and you know it. Save that rah rah bullshit for retards like Ernie.
The linebacking will prioritize over DBs. Zone types are coming, the days of zany press man are over.Guess it's official.
We live in a cruel fucking world.
Kobe's helicopter tragically crashed but yet the Jones helicopter keeps on landing safely.
Listen I like Zimmer. He was handed a shit situation with the injuries. The defense clearly got better as the season went on. But on the season we did still suck on defense. I would have welcomed him back but Eberflus is a damn good coordinator who managed that Colts defense at a high level. At worst we got a similar quality D-coordinator who isn't at the twilight of his career.
I wonder what would have happened if he was not respectful of Old Man Marinelli and took the DC job.At worst we got a similar quality D-coordinator who isn't at the twilight of his career.
I'm hoping the Bears cut TJ Edwards so we can get some vet coverage there. Between a vet like Edwards, Liufau and eventually Overshown coming back we would be pretty solid there. EJ Speed might be an option as well as a former Eberflus guy.The linebacking will prioritize over DBs. Zone types are coming, the days of zany press man are over.
I think Campbell could be a beast in that defense. But that would be crazy before the second round in my opinion. There are other explosive LBers if that's what you're looking for. The benefit of a coach like this is that you shouldn't have to spend a top 15 pick in order to find a good LBer.I'm hoping the Bears cut TJ Edwards so we can get some vet coverage there. Between a vet like Edwards, Liufau and eventually Overshown coming back we would be pretty solid there. EJ Speed might be an option as well as a former Eberflus guy.
If we can't add someone like that we might be looking at spending one of our top 2-3 picks on a off-ball LB, perhaps someone like Jihaad Campbell even in the first as an out of left field type of pick.
About as uninspiring as the Schittenheimer pick.
Yeah totally disagree with this. As a defensive coordinator he is a way better pick than BS is as a head coach. Not sure what you would consider "inspiring" but I'd consider a guy that was an elite level defensive coordinator before becoming a head coach to be a good pick. I get that the Bears years are not inspiring. But if they were, he wouldn't have been available.About as uninspiring as the Schittenheimer pick.
To make matters worse, there won’t be any big splashy FAs brought in to help these bonehead coaches either.
Sad time to be a Cowboys fan.
Maybe I'm remembering wrong but I don't remember those Colt's defenses being uber talented. But I could be wrong. They had a couple of good players. Shaq Leonard's entire career was basically the 4 years he played for Eberflus. He had Buckner for a couple of those seasons who was a bad ass.So for him to be really effective their going to have to draft some more guys since God knows they won't sign anyone.
Aside from Buckner and Leonard there wasn't any elite talent on those teams and Leonard may have just been a function of the scheme anyway.Maybe I'm remembering wrong but I don't remember those Colt's defenses being uber talented. But I could be wrong. They had a couple of good players. Shaq Leonard's entire career was basically the 4 years he played for Eberflus. He had Buckner for a couple of those seasons who was a bad ass.
But I can't think of any other "great" talent that he had. I think we probably have more talent than some of those defenses.
