Honestly I think if Dak took less he might get a little better fan support and relieve some of the pressure he faces. When you fight to be the highest paid player in the NFL it makes the contract really hard to live up to.
Yeah, if you're going to demand to be paid in excess of $50 million per year, fans are going to demand performances that match the salary.

Preaching to choir here....when you make that much money you're expected to be able to do more with less. It's been proven that Dak struggles in that department.

I doubt the pressure from fans is at the front of his mind. I know I wouldn’t give a shit if people thought I was overpaid.

It's not that he is over paid that bother's Dak but Dak strikes me as a guy who wants everyone to love him. And you won't get much love from fans when you demand to be the highest paid NFL player unless you're Patrick Mahomes and actually are the best player. Some players don't give a shit what fans think. But Dak, I think he absolutely does. But I also think his agent controls these things far more than Dak.

I really doubt professional athletes give a fuck about what fans may or may not think, to the point it would affect their play on the field. And if they do, people would be calling them weak minded bitches.

I'd say we have seen plenty of evidence on Twitter that players absolutely do care. I think most of the Cowboys team acted like sensitive bitches last year. Most people want to be loved. Maybe just not you.

Well, that really hurts my feelings, C Rock. I am a sensitive dude.

You don’t like Bass, that’s fine, I think he has ability. Second year leap, coming up.

I never said I don't like him, instead I've said the opposite in fact.

I just think some of you guys have a habit of assuming guys that flash potential automatically live up to it. It doesn't always happen like that and there are many examples of it.

I think we need to calm down a little and not count on a guy who was undrafted and has two whole career starts under his belt.

Of course it's about money. No one ever said otherwise. They shouldn't be expected to work for free or for a pittance when the game generates so much revenue.

But it should also be about things other than money.

45 million (per YEAR by the way) with a better chance of winning versus 60 million with a worse chance of winning is a no brainer to me.

If at some point more money isn't making you happier why do it when you are already filthy rich?
You win, you attract more sponsors. You win the SB, you just about have your pick of sponsors.
Giving up 15-25 million in salary to help sign guys who get you to a SB when you know a couple sponsors easily make up that difference is a no brainer. But that’s just me.

Yep. This is exactly right.

And in Dak's case he's a lot like Mahomes in that he's pretty clean cut and sponsors would fall all over themselves to sign him if he wins.

No kidding. If he is the next Ron Leary, great. Let’s find out if he can beat out another draftee. The loser goes to RG in 2025. I certainly would not depend on him at RG with a new center likely on the way.

I think he may be LG material. Unless we draft LT.

It would be interesting to hear Dak's pitch to be the highest paid player in NFL history.

"I have great stats and got to the playoffs."

or

"Just cuz."

or

"I'm going to nuke the salary cap this season if you don't....you can't trade me...gimme all the monies."

Bass is supposedly more comfortable at RG from what I heard in camp last year, so I think he can play either. Martin is almost certainly going to be done in the next year or two so that's just another reason to go OL high this year.

Your future core could be Tyler, the rookie, Bass and maybe some combination of Biadasz/Richards/Steele depending on who is resigned and/or can step up.

This team isn’t winning a Super Bowl. Every single indication is that Jerry is just playing out the string this year and doesn’t want to pay McCarthy not to coach. He consistently spends among the least of all NFL teams. He just told your pro bowl LT to leave. He will be inactive in meaningful free agency and not spend a single dime you save on any weapon that will help you or the team win. When the team fails, and it will, fans will blame Dak whether he makes 40 million or 65 million, and Jerry will blame his huge salary regardless.

I don’t blame him one bit for taking the 65.

It's unlikely but I'm trying to give the benefit of the doubt at the moment.

If we resign Biadasz I think an OL core moving forward or Tyler/rookie/Biadasz/Bass is very solid, and if Steele can do ehow regain his form we'd be in really good shape.
