That is part of the problem now. During the meat of his career, he was underpaid.
I never understood why he did that. I'm not one of these who gets off on players grabbing every last dime they can, but he was a legitimately great player who deserved more.

Maybe winning was more important to him? Not like he's going to be applying for SNAP anytime soon if he was smart with his earnings.

The team needs more people with his mentality.

Yes. But, at the same time it is really hard to blame a player for trying to get every dime he can.

I don't understand that mentality. Pure selfishness in the ultimate team sport game.

These guys aren't 9-5er's trying to scrape an extra 50 cent out of their boss.

Example: I don't see the difference in making 20 mil per year or 15 mil per year in a TEAM sport. I'm rich af either way, and if I'm making 15, there's an extra 5 for teammates or free agents that can help the TEAM win.

That being said, I wish these guys could get every cent they could possibly wring out of a multibillion dollar entity like the NFL in this brutal fucking game. I'd kill for a luxury tax system in this sport.

Yep. I’m into NCAA bball at this juncture, and have zero confidence Jerry and Retardo will be “all in” especially after seeing pompous Jerry sit around and put the PT Barnum spin on everything.
Couldn’t give 2 shits about the draft, FA, or the Cowboys. Mainly because nothing will change this season. Not renewing YouTube NFL package either.
Having a lot of free Sundays will be nice this year.
We should get Indiana Fever season tickets.

That last part is quite true. I wish there was an available list of what players are represented by whom. We simply don’t do business with certain agents, for example, Rosenhaus.

There is the same disconnect with the teams themselves. We do not have good relationships with a lot of teams. Most will scratch another team’s back enough that they work together. Not Dallas. The Cooper trade was proof of that.

My guess is the Cowboys probably wanted him back but at another prove it sort of deal. Tyron's agent probably said that he proved he can stay healthy last year and wants a standard 15+ mil deal. And the Cowboys probably just decided it was best to move on at that point.

I think that's exactly what happened.

You can't rely on Tyron playing 13 games or more. Go spend that money on a LBer or DT that you can reliably say will start all season.

Cutting one of the best LT in the league after an excellent season so that you can spend money on a LB or DT is not wise strategy.

Tyron always gave us team friendly deals, so I'm not surprised he'd want one last payday as big as possible.

He did, but his sudden 180 is surprising to me for that reason. His career earnings at this point are about $120 million. I got the impression that he was content to make a shit ton of money and wasn't worried about squeezing out every last cent.

But yeah, if we left him with the impression that he would take a big pay cut last year to prove himself so that he could get back to his usual paycheck, then we decided to not do that after he did prove himself, I can see him being bitter about it.

I feel like money shouldn't be the only consideration.

When you are earning generational wealth regardless, quality of life things like the city you play in, the climate, your teammates, the organization, the fans, and winning should logically take on more importance.

Speaking for myself, I'd much much rather win and make 15 million than lose and make 20 million. Winning 6 games or whatever has to be miserable.
