I was already on an all time high by beating the 49ers and doing so for the opportunity to play in the Superbowl.

Even though the Cowboys didn't really have a rivalry with them yet, I just couldn't stand the 49ers as a kid..... Maybe because they are the dominant team of the 80s?

So to beat that team on their own field in the NFCC was the maximum for me.

And then Jimmy goes on and does that. :towel

No win will ever matter more to me and no moment will ever be better than that one.
This moment in their lockerroom, along with "Put it in 3 inch headlines"?

So. F'n. Awesome.

Alvin Harper slant will always be the greatest play in team history IMO.

You fucking child. We had a rivalry with the Niners before that. Hello? The Catch?
The was and maybe still is the most gut-wrenching loss in team history, but can you really say we were "rivals" in 1992?

We'd faced them 3 times in the playoffs prior to that with The Catch game being the 3rd.

So yeah there was a revenge factor for fans, but we didn't spend the 80s going through a heated rivalry with them.

By the time 1992 came along, it had already been more than a decade since the two teams played each other in a truly meaningful game.

So really, outside of having revenge on your mind (if you were old enough), there really wasn't a reason to hate that team due to the lack of meaningful games they'd played against one another for so long.

And at the tender age of 13, 1992 was the first time I'd seen those two square off in anything meaningful.

It's funny. I have a friend I've known since I was a kid. Huge Niners fan. And of all the great Cowboys players that formed that team, he hates Alvin Harper the most. Bring up that period of time and he'll say "We'd focus on shutting down Irvin, Emmitt, and Novacek as best we could. And just when you thought things were going to swing our way, Alvin Fucking Harper would swoop in and snatch your heart out."

I never get tired of hearing that.

He just killed them until the 94 NFCC but that's only because Irvin was so hot that they just kept going to him.

But he secured catches in both the 92 and 93 NFCC's that put them away and then in 94 the guy catches a 94 yard pass against them in the regular season.

He just owned them.

But Clark's catch had been replayed endlessly for 10 years, basically signalling the end of our dynasty. That made 1992 all the more sweet.

Oh for sure, but my point is that at 13, and after the majority of my fandom occuring in the mid-80s onward, I didn't really have a reason to view them as a rival and yet I still hated them more than any other team in the league.

Merton Hanks' neck and tiny head will do that to ya.
Fuck that bitch.

And fuck every single member of that 90s 49ers team.

I can't fucking stand Steve Young and his monkey on my back moment followed by his gay ass squeal in the locker room afterward are two of the 3 audio/video clips that most piss me off.

Truer words have never been written:

Johnson wasn’t just brilliant in his construction of the team, be it the infamous Herschel Walker trade or other savvy moves, but also in leading it. His no-nonsense approach gave Dallas a killer instinct despite the fanfare and media attention, a trait sorely lacking in the Cowboys' more recent contending rosters.

Jimmah made something like 51 trades his first few seasons. Jerry and his Goof Son had zero to do with any of them.

Wat? The point of the statement is the Cowboys contending teams since Johnson left have no killer instinct. In other words...they are fucking soft af.

The only way to kill the fanfare is with the best of talent acquisition. Never be satisfied.

Under the Joneses, we lak what we have.
