The argument was that it was a weaponized prosecution, which is a favorite pastime of the left. I literally have no idea if that's true but on its face, I agree that it is a bad look, especially when he simultaneously was working to apprehend Maduro.

Edit: I just want to add, that, no matter what it was ultimately about, I haven't seen any unhappy Venezuelans. Which says a lot.

Show me a country in the mid east that is doing well-ever. I have a lot more faith that a resource-rich, and former prosperous country like Venezuela will succeed than a shithole desert on the other side of the world will.

Taking Maduro does nothing more than help stop the destabilization of central and South America. Which is also right in our back yard.

Attempting to take Xi Jinping would ignite WWIII. Just as it would if China attempted to take an American president.
