That's more per than Peterson got.
 
Williams is now saying the extension part is worth $97.6M. The $110M total counts the 2 remaining years on original deal.

Does that make us feel better?
 
That's insane, but props to him.

And he thought he had family trouble before.

I'm not sure. It's still a lot of money and a really long contract for someone that plays in the trenches every play. I don't hate it, it just seems like a really long contract for his position.
 
Wow. Better hire some more security, Tyron. You know the scumbag family you had to deal with when you signed you rookie deal are going to be back in force.
 
And I'm seeing on Twitter that Tyron was willing to give a little due to the help that the Cowboys gave him in dealing with his family.


Considering the signing bonus can only prorate over 5 years, the 2nd half of that contract should be very cap friendly.

For now. Wait til we start tinkering with his deal, gaurenteeing future monies to create cap space sooner. I'm sure we'll do that next offseason to make room for Dez's deal.
 
I'm happy they signed him. Maybe its too much money but what else do you expect from the dickturds that run our team.

Tyron Smith gets 8-year extension

OXNARD, Calif. -- The Dallas Cowboys have signed Pro Bowl offensive tackle Tyron Smith to an eight-year extension through 2023, making the total value of his contract worth nearly $110 million, according to multiple sources.

Smith, who the Cowboys view as a cornerstone of their future, is guaranteed $40 million and will receive a $10 million signing bonus, according to sources. He had two years remaining on his previous contract after the Cowboys picked up the fifth-year option of his rookie deal in the spring.

Smith is the second member of the 2011 draft class to sign a lucrative extension in as many days, joining Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson, who signed a five-year extension worth $70 million.

Smith became the first offensive lineman drafted by the Cowboys in the first round since 1981 when he was selected with the ninth overall pick of the draft. He has started all but one game since joining the Cowboys and moved to left tackle in 2012.

The Cowboys have been in negotiations for his agents through the spring and talks picked up recently.

Smith does not turn 24 until December and will be able to hit free agency again by the time he is 32. Smith is considered a prototype left tackle with his athleticism and strength and was selected as a second-team All-Pro in 2013.
