The Great Police Work Thread

So Georgia Tech police shoot and kill a kid for taking steps toward them with a small knife in a multi-tool. :lol

A computer nerd at that. Not some hulking power lifting athlete type.

Such fucking pussies.

Do you know the whole story?

I watched the video. Multiple cops were pleading with him to drop the weapon and asking him what was wrong, what his name was etc. The assailant called 911 and reported someone matching his own description lurking around with a knife and a gun on his hip. Despite their repeated protests, he kept approaching the cops while armed.

Suicide by cop.

The police did nothing wrong here. They have a right to defend themselves.

To fault the officers in this instance shows you're simply a cop hater with an agenda - not someone concerned with actual police injustice.

A billy club, tazer, or any other non lethal force would have been fine in this situation.

But give some cunts a badge and gun, and it's human hunting season.

You would have bitched if they beat her/him into arrest, too. The cops (with the info they had) did what they should have given the tools they had at their disposal. You want to argue about what tools they had, go for it. Theses cops did what they had to.

The only cunt in this situation is you behind your keyboard.

Police have an inherently dangerous job. There is zero reason they should put their lives at risk, while preserving an idiots, when said idiot doesn't show an ounce of regard for their own wellbeing.

If you try to poke a tiger with a stick, don't complain when you get mauled.

No one gives a fuck how dangerous they think their jobs are.

This is the only developed country in the world that feels the need to let their police kill anyone they feel "threatened" by.

A lot of people care. Don't speak for everyone when you really speak for basically no one but yourself.

No it isn't.

Are we talking pocket knife or a real knife?

I could give a fuck less if he had a tooth pick. If you have a blatant disregard for police orders, while their guns are drawn on you, and instead of complying you instead opt to aggressively approach them, you deserve the repurcussions.

Also, kid had left suicide note behind, and called 911 and reported he had a knife and gun.

As obvious a case of suicide by cops. I applaud the police and im glad this idiot is dead. Darwinism at work.

Yeah, no, this is wrong on so many levels. I rarely agree with Bipo but no, officers don't have the right to shoot to kill if someone doesn't obey their orders. And no they don't have the right to shoot and kill someone for aggressively approach them. Not any more then you have the right to shoot and kill me if I aggressively approach you.

Deadly force is reserved for actual threats of deadly force. But apparently you're ok with vigilante cops who shoot anyone that doesn't do what they say. I can't imagine that anyone else is stupid enough to agree with that.

If youre a cop, and someone ignores your repeated pleas to stop/drop the knife, and they instead charge you - you'd pull the trigger as well.

Life is hard. Even harder when you're stupid.

And if someone charges me with a tooth pick or no weapon at all I wouldn't.

It's why I asked if it was a real knife or a pocket knife. I'd go to prison for the rest of my life if I shot someone with a pocket knife. But if someone comes charging at me with an 8 inch blade and I shoot them I'm ok.

You can be killed just as dead with a 3" blade on a pocket knife as you can with an 8" blade on a bowie knife. Any knife with a blade is a "real" knife. Remember all the damage caused with box cutters? Those barely have a 1" blade. The threat they posed was certainly "real".

The tooth pick comparison is completely retarded, but considering who gave it, it's understandable. The guy was approaching in a threatening manner with a deadly weapon after being told repeatedly to stop and drop his weapon. I see no problem with deadly force being used in this situation.

There is a reason why for example in the state of Missouri we differentiate between a 4 inch or less folding blade and anything longer. You might be able to kill someoine with a blade like that but it is extremely difficult and one can easily defend themselves from it without the need for deadly force. The long the blade, the deeper it goes and obviously the easier it is to do serious bodily harm.

In case you're curious here is the statutory definition of a knife in Missouri:

(12) "Knife", any dagger, dirk, stiletto, or bladed hand instrument that is readily capable of inflicting serious physical injury or death by cutting or stabbing a person. For purposes of this chapter, "knife" does not include any ordinary pocketknife with no blade more than four inches in length;

You can easily defend yourself against a 4 inch blade. Because slashing someone’s throat or arms arent a thing.

Sure and you can get killed from a pointy stick too, doesn't mean you should kill someone because they come at you with a pointy sick.

If you can't handle someone with a 2 inch pocket knife without killing them you have no business being a police officer. Especially if there are multiple officers present.

Again, I have no idea what the guy in this instance did or didn't have. Didn't watch the video and I'm not going to cry over a situation where it sounds like the guy wanted to die. But let's use a little common sense here when talking about the use of deadly force.
