Funny how upset people got about this. Where exactly is it wrong? When people say things they shouldn't be upset when it is pointed out how those statements have been used in the past and what exactly they have been used to justify.

I'm not sure even how to respond to this. You're seriously going to sit here and compare a few thousand bad cops among millions of them to an entire government slaughtering 11 million people?

no, I am not comparing the the two at all. I am comparing the justification to support them (not that i have seen anyone say it on here lately), that justification is the same. And even if the cause it is used to support is just (American police), the very fact that it could be used to support damn near anything should imply maybe that shouldn't be the bar we use to justify American life.

Right, and no one would justify American police if they were killing tens of millions of people. Are you saying justifying having police is the first step towards a Nazi-type Germany?

Well, in our cases, it's true. Now, if we were Nazi Germany you would have a point. Hence why I first asked if you were comparing the two.

It is true when you say it, it is true when hitler said it. "Don't break the law and you have nothing to fear", is terrify because it justifies anything so it should not be what we base American policeing around.

Frankly I find it intellectually pathetic that you can't defend the sentiment behind the idea (don't break the law and you have nothing to fear) instead you are left claiming that I (and Bipo) are calling American police nazi's. No, I am saying that "don't break any laws and you won't have to fear the police" is not a valid statement of anything. It should not be used to justify anything because it can be said about anything.

And I'm telling you that if you abide by the laws in this country as they are today you don't have to fear police. Unless you want to bring up the 1 in a million cases where a cop does something stupid.

Oh, and two more cops shot in NY last night. Wonder if that might affect how cops present themselves there to suspects going forward. Blame the thugs for them being antsy as much as a rare amount of cops for being over-aggressive.

They had a lousy economy left them from the first world war and a people who so wanted out of the circumstance they were in they were willing to fall in line behind an egomaniacal socialistic dictator with a hunger for power and a hatred for a certain group of people. Not lousy, but not where it should be and I don't believe the improvement is due to anything government has done. In fact I believe they have hindered the improvement.

I think all the factual job numbers have been posted before but hey. Let them continue to believe that unemployment is really below 6% and all is right with the economy and Obama is responsible. Funny how he is responsible for a "recovering" economy, but has never had responsibility for anything bad during his presidency.
