I've seen both sides. Grew up in a military household, then had to experience the shock of civilian life. I have to say I think everyone should have to serve a little time in the military to teach them a thing or two. Even if it was going to basic for six months.

Which is not me. I don't actively seek out reasons to be offended. Matter of fact the people that do annoy me. But, the people that are discourteous in my eyes way outnumber those that aren't. But, that also could be because the ones that are courteous never hit my radar because they appear normal to me and they don't stand out.

More people than not (yes, vast majority) don't even seem like they have a clue as to the world around them. Either by choice or flatout ignorance.
 
BTW...I went to Sports Clips today and it was great. First time there so I got the hot towel and hair washing and massage for free. It was a little odd to be taken to a dark area to get my hair washed...thought I might be getting a handy too.

I think way too many people pay attention to what others are doing and not enough time worrying about themselves.

Strike that. Reverse it.

In general, I see that a lot of people lack self awareness and don't self-monitor their own behavior nearly enough.

They seem wrapped up in whatever activity they are doing...and it has got worse since cell phones have become popular.

I don't pay attention to what anyone is doing unless it directly affects me. And it does ... a lot.

Absolutely. They have no idea the people that are walking/driving around them. I was at Walmart just the other night and this lady was standing and looking at the shelf, with her basket blocking the other half of aisle. I walked up and gave the courteous few seconds for her to realize I was trying to get by, and after a cough from me she looks over at me, and then goes right back to looking at the shelf. Not once did she even try to get her fatass or her cart out of the way. It took an excuse me from me to even get her to realize that she was in the way, and even then all she did was push the front part of her shopping cart over which forced me to squeeze between her huge ass and her cart.
 
Probably should have said pardon me to begin with...then the whole thing mighty have been avoided.

It is pretty good. And I think they give it to you for free for a year if you are a student (essentially you just need an .edu email address, so if you have one you might get it for free).

I agree. The media focuses on the idiots, but they aren't the majority. The majority of people I've known in my life are generally good, if imperfect, people. I doubt that's a coincidence.

That said, we have to keep in mind that half the population is below median intelligence. Doesn't make them horrible people, but there are plenty of idiots out there.

Walmart attracts more than its fair share of idiots. I'd hate for our entire society to be judged by morons at Walmart.
