I was weed eating earlier today and I am think about planting some new shrubs...so I am pretty exciting.
 
Get a lab. Great family dog. Extremely loyal, and protective of the kids they live with.

High energy dog while playing, but calm if you have them in the house. Love to play fetch/Frisbee, or just lay at your feet.

They are even really good hunting dogs if you so choose.

I don't really consider them that big. More medium size.

But then again, I had a 200lb Great Dane. Now he could drop some monster yard bombs. Eiieeeee.
 
Not to get weird here, but I am generally pretty happy...even weirder...Nebraska agrees with me.
 
There was this dog I saw recently that looked like a spaniel, but a little thinner. I forget the name of it.
 
If you're wanting to go the spaniel route, you could get a King Charles Spaniel.

They are pretty small, don't have the prey drive of Springers, or the hyper idiocy of Cockers. My brother has one and he's pretty cool.
 
Dogs are a pain in the ass. You have to create all kinds of things to accomodate them and you can't do anything because the dog has to be looked after or sent to a kennel. They are smelly and chew up everything they can sniff, etc., etc. You don't own them they own you. I recommend a model airplane or some other toy for entertainment that doesn't have to be fed and vacinated. Then there is the poop recovery process. On and on.......................
 
Sounds like their leashes get caught up in walkers too.

In a way, I agree.

Dogs and pets in general as a bigger pain in the ass than they are worth.
