The first time I ever heard it was when the Duggers used the argument that an anti-discrimination bill in Fayetteville, AR would allow men to use the women's bathroom. It worked to get enough votes to defeat the bill and has been a talking point ever since. I'm pretty sure we've all been using the bathroom with transgender people our entire lives without it being a problem.

It is an evangelical Right wing topic. They are bringing up laws to say transgender people need to use one bathroom or the other, where there weren't any before. If they didn't bring it up, it wouldn't be discussed.

If they did the movement didn't start until recently. I haven't heard about it and I think I would have been aware of something.
 
We don't need a law telling us who can use which restroom.

But I guess whatever keeps the public up in arms while the world crumbles around us is just fine.
