Test...

That's awesome, man. What schools are recruiting him?

Well, it is just now picking up. All of the schools that we've reached out to have given us an immediate and excellent response. Of course, Tech is a dream scenario for him and we've had some contact with them. He will need to get stronger to end up there but it really isn't out of the question. We have some connection at UNT as Graham Harrell is the OC there. Their program is crappy right now but he's a great fit in the spread.

The teams that he is looking at right now:

Tech (may be a long shot but we are in contact)
La Tech
Tulsa
Houston
Sam Houston

We have a tiered plan of attack because you don't know what is going to happen. I ain't raising no dang pre-Madonna (that's a joke, take it with a grade of slaw) so will cast a wide net. Tech is #1 over everything and then we will rank by system match, proximity and general feel for the program. It is up to him at the end of the day but we want him close to him if possible so we can see him play.

He's going to a mega camp and we plan to target all of those schools as well. Mary-Hardin Baylor is a superb opportunity for him and they will take him in a heart beat. I sure wouldn't mind seeing him go to a small private school like that. It would be a good fit for him and they have the winningest team in the state. We just aren't sure at what level yet. His HC has put many kids in D1 schools and swears that my kid has more talent than many of them.

That's really cool, brother. Are they recruiting him as a QB?

Right now as an athlete. He is a very talented QB but he's a wild man sometimes. Coach needs him to calm down and run the system. He has been battling with the other QB for two years. Right now they split time and my kid plays WR/DB the rest of the time. I don't like him on defense due to the fact that he's not physical enough IMO. He like to make business decisions too often. He's been a drop back QB his entire life lol. He has never played WR until this season so he learned a bunch. He will make a huge jump this season. Track, being in the system and getting stronger is going to help a bunch.

When you're 6'3 and can run and catch you get looks based on that alone.

You can tell he has grown a lot recently. Still getting through that awkward running fully upright stage. :lol

He looks good, though.

I can say this, that coach is a helluva lot more creative than Garrett. I have never seen some of those formations.

His coach has these kids very very prepared. There is nothing that those kids are ready for - it is a trip. Every week we are outmatched and find a way to compete.

UH would be a great situation. Time will tell if he's that level of athlete.

If he's good in the spread, then certainly he would be a good fit there.

Lots of kids fill out significantly in their senior years of HS, so hopefully he can put on some weight while improving his game even more. Do that, and you'll be able to expand that list of schools. :fistpump

He has two years to get better as he's only a sophmore now.
