My wife and I are going through a rough patch financially... Nothing major but some unexpected expenses came up and now we are cutting corners on the little things. Namely, beer. I have hit rock bottom and I am drinking some swill right now. I am too embarrassed to even say what kind. I am lazy, but F this, I might have to get a second job just to support my craft beer habit.

If you're going to go that route then you should try to make sure your second job is some part-time gig at a bar that serves craft beer or something. Two birds, one stone.

I need more details in order to process this correctly.

What other things have you been cutting corners on?

Is she going with a cheaper makeup? Are you using cheaper detergent? Do you use paper towels or are you using packaged napkins? When you buy things like sour cream...name brand or store generic?

Life is too short for beer that repulses you.

To be fair, we always buy generic store stuff even when money is good.

Well, on most things. There are some things you just can't go cheap on. Like beer..wait....FML

It only makes sense. A couple shifts a week for some extra cash and some free after shift beers (or during shift depending on the place) would be a nice situation. The bigger picture, though, is once you're there for a bit and you get to know the other people who work there you can go in when you aren't working and get set up with free draft beers. It's a win/win for EZ.

So beer is the only place that you have targeted now? That tells me you really aren't cutting corners and you are punishing yourself.

No we've cut back on lots of things, not just beer. But I can survive on Ramen as long as I have some DFH.

Forgive me for digging, but I want to know what has made it so you had to take this drastic step. I am only trying to help.
 
Getting broke still doesn't necessitate this kind of drastic step. You or your spouse apparently is doing something wrong and your priorities are out of whack.
 
Fun fact: I pay more in child support each month than I do for my mortgage.
