Not really sure what we are discussing here.

I will be completely honest. My exposure to Hispanic culture comes from work.

And to me, work ethic, doing the right thing, family, all of those things are important to me, especially when judging character.

That is where I form my basis.

And I will say very quickly, and this is open for debate, but there are certain Latino segments that are not like the other.

Again, I have a limited view. I don't know most of these folks outside of work.

But I can say this. Cubans and Puerto Ricans? They suck.

And I think we can take Argentina, Chile and Uruguay out of the discussion.

There are few immigrants that come from there to influence Merca.

And I can't get over the fact you people prefer black beans.

But hey, whatever. You win, Skid.

I'm not going to pretend to sound educated on the topic as I don't know many people from half these places. But I do know a handful from some and I can say they all should be ranked higher than Puerto Ricans based on your criteria. Granted, my experience with them has been so much more since they dominate the central FL area that I live in. But most of them don't carry themselves and treat others with the type of respect you're talking about.

You're right, and I'm sure many people in southern Florida would share your view.

Same goes for people in Texas and California in regards to Mexicans. All they know are the lower class folks.

But Puerto Rico's economy is really good and as a result of their relationship with the US, they have a high literacy rate as well.

The ones you find in NY and your neck of the woods are the rowdy, obnoxious ones with little class.

But if you meet people that aren't of that crowd, you'll find that there are lots of Puerto Ricans who are very articulate and conduct themselves with class.

It should be about the type of person they are and their values, you're right.

No one is ever going to consider Salvadorans as "classy" people, but I'll challenge you to find another Hispanic group that works harder than we do or keeps as clean a home as we do.

Just don't ask my peeps to win any spelling bees. :art

I actually have a high opinion of Mexicans that are in Texas. At least the ones I have met. Sure there are bad ones but the majority I have run across are hard-working people just trying to make a living. Of course, I don't run with the ones that might be thugs. :unsure

Same here. The vast majority I run in to are very hardworking and tend to keep to themselves and not cause problems.

That's how most are, but in this age of ignorance we're seeing people generalize them all.

I mean, they're stealing teh jobz!!!!

People see a couple Mexicans here and there that get caught ding something bad, then it immediately turns into "They're all here illegally sending money back home to help Mexico's economy and not ours!"....which then turns into "Close our borders and send everyone back"

But try being part of an ethnic group that produced the MS-13. :budd

I've seen the true colors of people I thought were my friends come out on FB about Hispanics. I've had to unfriend a couple ever since this Trump foolishness began.

If it makes you fell better, El Salvador is a predominantly pinto/red beans zone.

I just prefer black. :art

I'm actually shocked at the hispanics up in this mug preferring black beans over pinto considering how entrenched red beans and refried beans are in their food.

They are all Cuban wannabes.

Black beans are more prevalent in South America and the Caribbean Hispanic countries.

My wife being Venezuelan, I got used to her always making black beans so I just ending up converting.
