Not trying to be insensitive for the cause, which is great.

Just speaking to how idiotic and trend responsive people can be. Some are probably doing it without even understanding why.

Probably. But it's also raised over $1M for ALS research in the last week.
 
We should start a fire challenge to raise funds for the DCC. We'll draw straws to see who goes first to get the ball rolling.

Was just about to say it beats the fire challenge, which, from what I understand, promotes Darwinism awareness.
 
The ice bucket thing makes no sense. I didn't even know it was for a disease until today. I thought it was just another stupid fad like planking. The bullshit people will do to make themselves feel better without actually helping those in need

Generally I agree but 9.4 million has been raised thru Thursday.

Still, most are retarded for doing it. I guess if dumb people accidentally help raise money it is a positive.

I didn't know that. That's pretty cool. I was thinking about starting a "Staple your nutsack to your inner thigh challenge" to raise awareness about the dangers of Internet slacktivism, but I may have been a little hasty

 At 5:43 pm EST on August 16th, 2014 Brian Richard Gallagher, known throughout the blogosphere as DC Fanatic was relieved of the pain and suffering he has gone through for far too long. Everyone who knew him through his blogging and social media knew a man so passionate about the Dallas Cowboys that he would argue with fans that he thought weren’t “fan enough”. Some fans thought he didn’t support his team through hard times and bad losses. No matter the perspective you had or wether you agreed with him or not you all agreed he earned respect among the community.

In reality to the people that knew him personally he was a man with many problems. Physically, mentally, emotionally. Through it all one thing remained. His love for the Dallas Cowboys. Brian’s life was in a bad place when he decided that he needed something to take his mind off reality and focus on doing what he loved to do. DC Fanatic.com started in 2003 as ParcellsGuys.com when Bill Parcells was the head coach. Growing up in New York in a family of Giants fans he was ecstatic when Parcells became the coach of the Cowboys. As short lived as that was it started what became an obsession for him and when Parcells left the team he changed the name of the site to DCFanatic.com.

Over the years and many incarnations, this site developed a following that surpassed most fan sites and the more DC Fanatic became a personality, the less Brian Gallagher became a person. Other media outlets come to this site for prep work and sometimes to outright rip off whole articles. Through it all Brian received not one penny to research, edit video, post breaking news and find information that nobody else had the time or ambition to seek out, and host an internet radio sports show. He was paid a few dollars here and there for advertising but nowhere near what he should have made for his time and knowledge.

As his health declined he would post less and less and not have the strength to sit up all day to do so much research but he did the most he could because he knew the fans were depending on him. I truly believe that you all kept him alive a lot longer than he otherwise would have been had he not started this site and gained so many followers. I thank you for all of your support and well wishes during this tough time for me and my family and for all of the years you added onto his life by just giving him a purpose…

I think his whole body kind of shut down. Bad kidneys or something. The guy had health problems for several years. I think he was overweight and it took a toll.
 
I remember him talking about some physical hardship long ago.

He seemed like a decent person. He damn sure isnt the only person to grace this place that had emotional problems.

Chaps my ass that now he's gone, all the people who basically ostracized him at the Zone are acting like they were his bestest buddies. They ran him off that site, especially Hostile, who is pretending he was all in the know about his health and even used his issues to call attention to himself. Just deplorable.

I had to stand through 5 hours of screamo bands a little over a week ago. It was a Hot Topic nightmare a couple days before my oldest daughter turned 13. Big generation gap. I can get into some types of metal, but that crap...:nodno

5 hours is a long time even if it had been bands I wanted to see, but I had to keep reminding myself that this was about her, not me. It ended up being well worth it though. It was her first real show (the first show that she specifically wanted to go to) and it was at a legit rock venue in Austin's dirty rock and roll heart. I've seen several shows there myself and am glad she'll be able to say that was where she saw her first concert. Plus, she got to see her favorite band play. Her current rock god/rock crush is the lead screamer and after the show he went to the merch table and she got to meet him, get a picture with him, and got him to sign her ticket. Made her entire summer.

The music was mostly pretty awful, but at least it wasn't Justin Bieber or some shitty boy band like One Directions I guess.

It is deplorable because like you said, he and Hostile got into it and it was primarily because of that fat ass that he cut off ties to the Zone.

What a pathetic person Hostile us to pretend he cared at all for the guys well being or was even remotely close to being in the know about his health.
