He was considered an elite prospect, higher than Rousseau and any other rushers. He started to slide down boards as Horn and Surtain climbed. Initial lists had him as a top five talent. That didn’t come from his off-ball talent. He personally wrecked the opposition with his pass rush in his final college bowl game.I think some of that is hindsight, nobody thought Parsons would be the sort of edge rusher he turned into.
He was thought of as a traditional LB who could give you elite blitzing ability, maybe in the mold of a Wagner or Devin White.
If it wasn’t for four mostly overrated QBs pushing him down, we’d never have had a shot at drafting him. Straight up as a prospect, he was clearly better than Reese who the Cowboys had rated higher than Downs
