NFL Nostalgia Thread…

Sanders was the one RB that legit was scary.

I realize it is blasphemy, but he was a better RB than Emmitt Smith.

I think he was a more talented athlete than Emmitt and even the better pure runner, but he was not a better RB.

All around? Nope. Better pure runner? Sure. I’ll give you that. But Emmitt was better every where else. If I’m starting a team, I take Emmitt every time.

Amen. Sanders was flashier, sure. Gale Sayers was flashier too and no one argued he was the greatest. There's simply more to it than that.

Emmitt could be flashy too when he needed to be, but he also valued consistent chunks.

Give me a guy like Emmitt who consistently moved the ball forward over gambling on a guy like Sanders who would sometimes take a loss gambling on the big play.

Talking about Emmitt in the NFL nostalgia thread and work ethic in the Random Cowboys Thread. I love this board. :lol

Well, shit, while we're at it let's a do an Aikman/Staubach debate.

I think Aikman was the better passer, but Staubach had more tools with his legs. Discuss.

Aikman was the better pure passer, but Stabauch was the better all around QB.

And he's one of the GOATS at the position at being clutch. That alone puts him in a very select class.

They couldn’t because he was not nearly as productive. Sanders had the numbers when he retired.

Over Sayers, sure. Mostly because Sayers had a much lower usage and broke down very young.

I'm just saying the flashiness alone isn't enough to say Sanders is better than Emmitt.

Emmitt was a TD machine too.

Barry would get subbed out near the goalline because he was unreliable in short yardage.

I can't think of too many things more damning to a RB than your coach not having full confidence in your ability to get the tough yards when you absolutely have to have them.

Emmitt's goalline leaps were incredible.
