Damn...the game before you were talking about how certain additions were key to a championship run, now they are not realistic contenders. Interesting.

I'm tired of the "if healthy" qualifier.

But Brooks is the type of signing that boosts a title contender.

I say that because I don't think he has the frame to bulk up sufficiently in order to hold his own in the post. Also, his offensive game needs A LOT of work. Emphasis on A LOT.

His block numbers should be decent because I think he can do a good job protecting the rim from the weak side. But I expect him to get used and abused in one on one match ups unless he's able to get stronger and add weight.

I'd like to see him eventually get to that 245-250lb range. Maybe he'll be able to get there as he gets older.

While he is slender and will get pushed around he has a few things going for him. There aren't many guys with his length that are as quick as he is and who can jump like him. He's a freak in that sense. Last night he jumped to block a shot (didn't get a piece of it) and was still the first guy off the ground after he landed and got the board. You can't teach that.

He definitely has to work on his offensive game, low post moves, 10-15 foot jump shot, better touch around the rim, but he'll still get his points because of his hustle and quickness. A ton of dunks.

He also has great hands, can handle the basketball and can pass for a big man. He's quick enough to guard smaller players on the perimeter if needed. Just his presence under the basket on the defensive end is a plus. If he only averages 10 points a game in his career he's a very valuable and unique piece. He'll average over 10ppg though. Still developing and still 20 years old. Health is the most important thing.

Oh, please. One, these injuries don't mean squat come June unless Rose gets hurt at some point during the season. Two, this is just making excuses because LeBron and Co. came into town and beat you. After their respective first games the so called experts we're slurping all over the Bulls and gave the Cavs no shot in this overhyped Hallowen night game and then the Cavs beat them. Don't ever count LeBron out, ha. That's where the Cavs have the Bulls beat, they have LeBron and you don't.

I know it's nothing serious but the fact that all these little injuries are starting to pop up just 2 games into the season is not promising at all.
 
OKC looking surprisingly good so far against the Nuggets.

Steven Adams is developing into a nice low post scoring option. I like what I'm seeing.
 
Also regarding the Thunder, Reggie Jackson pretty much said he's going elsewhere after the season. He's hellbent on finding a starting job somewhere so he can "command his own team".

It'll be interesting to see how the Thunder play this going forward. If we're out of the playoff hunt he's definitely trade bait and I could easily see a team providing us decent compensation for a good PG/scorer.

Personally I'm glad that he's taking his talents elsewhere. He's a nice player but he's too selfish. I want players whose priority is winning rather than starting.

I don't know why guys like Jackson get so caught up in the "starter" label. Look at Ginobili. That guy is a borderline HOFer and he spent the bulk of his career coming off the bench.

You're still playing 25-30 minutes per game and on the floor during crunch time so why is being a "starter" such a deal maker/breaker?

Would you rather have the career of Carmelo Anthony or Manu Ginobili?

Noel Monday vs Houston.

He was matched up with Dwight Howard and giving up 50 lbs. He played him pretty well. He fronted him the whole game which frustrated Howard and left Noel in no position to get a rebound only getting 1 the whole game. Put up PG like numbers with 5 assists and 6 steals.

KJ McDaniels was a second round steal, too. Great D, hitting his 3pt shot, athletic. Nice pick.

I know the national media and Cavs fans don't want to hear it right now but it's way too early to panic. People easily forget that the 2010-2011 Heat were pretty much a .500 team their first month or two of the Bosh, Wade, Lebron era.

The Cavs will figure things out. Right now their biggest problem is Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters are being a bit too selfish. Waiters must have heard the grumblings about him because he didn't shoot a lot last night. But how long does that last?

Also, somehow Kyrie Irvin played an entire game, took 23 shots, scored 34 points and didn't register a single assist. So not only did he take more shots than the undisputed best player on the planet but he also has 0 assists on the night.

If that were Westbrook the internet and national media would explode. Westbrook may occasionally take more shots than Durant but he'll never have a 0 assist night. Even when he shoots a lot he's good for 5-8 assists.

Kyrie's just got to figure out his role within the offense instead of focusing on getting his own shot off.

Yea, the Heat were 9-8 and then finished with the best overall record in the league.

I don't know if Cleveland will be THAT good, but they'll be fine in the end. I agree about Kyrie in that he is the guy who is having the hardest time adjusting.

Of all 3 stars, Lebron is obviously going to have the smoothest transition being as he just came from a similar situation. With that said, it is Love who seems to be the most consistent performer right now and he hasn't even settled in yet.

When it's all said and done, they'll be the #1 team in the East.
 
The difference with Miami and Clev is that Lebron is coming to a team that has a dominant ball handler. Wade was to an extent, but not like a PG is...and how a point forward like Lebron is.

I loved McDaniels coming out and like him even more now. If that shot of his gets more consistent then we've got a real player...poor man's Kawhi Leonard?

Papanikolaou has been a pleasant surprise he has a very crafty game and he is the second best playmaker on the team behind Harden.

He is already a very valuable piece playing the 3, 4, and 2.

Its also funny listening to announcers butchering his name.:lol
