NBA Chatter Thread

I do enjoy seeing Wemby get humbled. He's too young and hasn't won enough yet to run his mouth the way he does.

Fox is getting most of the heat but Wemby played like garbage most of the night. I saw that after he baited Mitchell Robinson into that flagrant in the 1st quarter, he shot 4-18 and went 0-2 on a set of crucial FTs with less than 2 minuts to play.

Overall he's only shooting 43% in the Finals. People need to pump the brakes on putting him on the same tier as Shaq, Kareem, Wilt, etc. He may get there eventually but he's definitely not there yet.

People are doing that? :doh
GOAT Trajectory Talk
  • Kevin O'Connor (The Ringer/Yahoo) has been one of the biggest proponents. In 2024–2026, he repeatedly said Wemby was on the "GOAT trajectory," predicting timelines for DPOY, All-NBA, MVP, and title contention. He argued Wemby's polished offense and defensive dominance put him on a path like Kareem/MJ/LeBron, and that winning MVPs young would spark GOAT debates.
  • Kendrick Perkins boldly predicted the future GOAT conversation would be "MJ, Bron, and Wimby" if Wemby stays healthy, calling him potentially one of the best defenders ever.
  • Media pieces like "Victor Wembanyama's 'greatest of all time' trajectory is officially ahead of schedule" after strong playoff runs.

I think it's more a projection, I don't think anyone believes he's actually at that level right now, more that he's trending in that direction which I still think is valid.

The biggest question is health with him at the moment, but if he can stay healthy for 10-12 years I think he should be in the conversation as a top 10ish player all time at least.

On the other hand, paying attention to O'Connor, Perkins and Thomas is like paying attention to Bayless, Steven A, and Cowherd.

Those aren't real opinions.
