To accentuate your point, the best part was when Beltre grabbed Bautista from behind, he just kinda let himself be held. He didn't try to get away. He just stood there. He was shocked and honestly beaten at that point, and wanted nothing to do with the fray.

I would think it's much easier to defend the batter under those circumstances. The batter can just so he reacted in the heat of the moment. Whereas with a lot of these pitchers you can tell it's premeditated.

Pitchers get butt hurt over the slightest things then try to take matters into their own hands in order to protect the "integrity of the game".
 
Maybe it's just me but the Rangers came off as a bit cowardly for waiting until Bautista's final at bat of the season against them to pull this stunt.

They had opportunities after. Gibbons is just whiny bitch and not just about this.

That's been his MO about a lot of things. I posted about their bitching to the media about losing to the Rays a few weeks ago. F the Jays.

I don't think so. You throw a 95mph fastball at me, ya that's dangerous. But from that distance, at least I have a chance to react and hit the deck. Come at me face to face with a bat? There's not a lot of defenses for that.
 
Even better than the right cross was him smacking him on top of the head with his glove.

Yeah that Boston series was especially frustrating they should have won 3 out of 4.

Looks like the bats are waking up hopefully the good hitting can get on some kind of streak.

The bullpen is really hit or miss.

Yeah. Knew you would know since you see them more. Even the announcers said that about him as well. It seems he is out whining to the umps every game I see between the Rangers and Jays. F the Jays and for me it's been brewing before the bat flip.

I've just always had a problem with the dumbass double standard where it's somehow okay for a pitcher to use the ball as a weapon but heaven forbid the batter retaliates with his own weapon. Instead it's just chalked up as the pitcher protecting the "integrity of the game".

And for what? Because the batter stood in the batter's box admiring a HR too long or took too long to run around the bases? My opinion has always been if you don't want someone to show you up then stop them. Shut their ass down for the rest of the game. Scoreboard trumps everything in the world of sports.

Also, let's stop pretending that significant damage can't be done by throwing a baseball at someone. There are countless examples of players whose orbital/facial bones are fractured thanks to a fastball to the head. Also, the pitcher doesn't have to throw at the batter's head to cause a significant injury and ruin a player and teams season. A broken bone in the wrist or hand area can knock a batter out of the lineup for months and completely wreck a team's chances at competing. But somehow that's deemed an acceptable risk in order to protect the "integrity of the game" and enforce MLB's sacred unwritten rules.

And the laughable part about all of this is the pitcher usually gets handed a toothless 10 game suspension. Which equates to about 2 or 3 missed starts. Where's the justice in that?
